I was hoping to get some input on fine-tuning my list.

Army list (not a small read).

The theme behind my army is the remnants of the Steel Confessors (seeing as canonically it's only been two years since they lost over 70% of the whole Chapter) team up with their creators of the Adeptus Mechanicus out of need to reinforce the defences of Kalevala.

Depending on who I face... Either the Inquisition caught wind of the Steel Confessors teaming back up with the Mechanicus and has branded them heretical out of fear of the Mechanicus having control of Astartes, or the planet is besieged by xeno, or cultists have moved to conquer the planet by capitalizing on the weakened Chapter.

Regardless, the Skitarii is sent to reinforce the Steel Confessors, and the Adeptus Mechanicus has called in favors to outlying Imperial Knights to ensure Kalevala does not fall.

So, long story short. Does the list feel like a battered Space Marines Chapter backed up by Skitarii? I've done my best to try to remove metal boxes from the IG Astra Militarum side so it feels like a Skitarii army (walkers, minimal tanks, lots of infantry, high-tech weapons).

Thanks for your time.

tl;dr Is my apoc army playable, or is it missing stuff?

That;\'s one hell of an army list. I think at 15,000 points there isn't much "fine tuning" to do, lol. What size table are you even playing on?

EDIT: I demand to see pictures of your force prepared for battle.

As soon as I get the army bought... and assembled... and painted, sure. Don't worry, I will honour this statement... someday. The army isn't cheap.

I'm planning the hypaspists (veterans) and stormtroopers (praetorians) are gonna have legs from the High Elves kits so I can do that sorta robed look you would expect from Adeptus Mechanicus soldiers.

For a collection of the normal guardsmen (menials) I want to fashion pipes, nailboards, and all sorts of improvised weapons. Menials are the workers who are so pathetic when it comes to tech they can only do jobs too good for glorious machines to do... as such when the skitarii arm them, it's simply 'here's a gun, there's some armor. grab it and go'.

I would have used conscripts for the menials, but then I'd have to make the normal guardsmen my hypapists to try to figure out all the skitarii ranks... and I didn't wanna fight with that.

I might fashion my drop pods into oversized borer drills of the adeptus mechanicus, that way the 'pods will look like they pop up from underground rather than air dropped... and it will help imply that the Steel Confessors are the defenders --since drop pods and aerial bombardment is more for attackers.

Any upgrades you think I should add to my army's units to help that mechy feel, or anything I should model?

Since you have not bought anything yet, I would work on building a 500 point, a 1000 point, 1850 and 2000 point list. Just to make sure that you have the right models for smaller games.

I am doing something similar with my deathwatch army, but I am building it from the small up and adding allies instead of looking at the final result.

People who stopped buying GW but wont stop bitching about it are the vegans of warhammer

I figure I can probably find enough in the list I can break smaller armies out of it. Not to mention that when I'm not using the army I want to hopefully add some extra figures for showpiece work.

I dunno, I figure it will take a good while to finish this army. I haven't painted IG before, but I can sink a good many hours in to getting a Marine just right...
