I've been wanting to play Kings of War, but my friend has been collecting Skaven and most of my models are for Chaos armies (warriors, beasts, daemons). Is there any official or semi-official army lists for those two forces?

Demons are Abyssals, and Skaven work fairly well with the goblin list.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

People also often recommend using the Orc list for beastmen, and Kingdoms of Men or Orcs for Chaos, depending on your preference.

hmm, I guess I could cherry pick from the different lists if I needed to mix and match for appropriate unit types...

Thanks, guys!

There are fanlists for all of them, heavily play tested and revised ones too, they're all in a thread in the kow section of the mantic forums.

Are there any sanctioned ones, Squig? I know the chaos one was horribly imbalanced when we tried it (stronger than any other list) and the rats were weak. I'm hoping some tweaks and a Mantic stamp of approval means I can convince others to try them again.

They're pretty much all Mantic-sanctioned other than for tournament use. Most of them are written by pathfinders.

When a fan project is dealing with Mantic, the default is "Mantic sanctioned".. it's only if you start selling stuff for-profit that it becomes an issue for them.

I always liked the idea of using the Orc list for Chaos Warriors - it seems pretty easy to find equivalent entries for them. Your Chaos Sorcerer even lacks Crushing Strength, unlike the big, tough warriors.

Orcs even have the same base size, so no-one can complain about that, either!

One thing I wonder, would using the Goblin list for Beastman allies seem a bit weedy?

Someone probably needs to link to that thread from here....

The balancing/unbalanced force aspect does trouble me a little, though. Is Mantic planning to "themed codex/update" all of their armies with expansion books?
