After vigorous searching and mind changing I have finally settled on doing a Raptors space marine chapter. I toyed with the idea of doing fire hawks and doing some sick paint jobs and conversions having to do with fire and black on black colour schemes but there was never enough back story there I like it when a chapter has a story and a code and a personality. Raptors just seemed to fit, they rank victory above everything and they don't just stick to the codex astartes like it's some sort of bible, they focus on stealth and hit-and-run but still keep a fair amount of machines kicking around. The best part their gene-seed is not deteriorating which was my main turn off of the Raven Guard. At the end of the day though their nickname is the space assassins, that's just BA! And I don't mean Blood Angels...
Anyways I would like ideas on how to build a good list, Raptors are specially and highly trained in the art of marksmanship and don't just sacrifice guys needlessly, but are also not afraid to get their hands dirty, I would definitely like to go with drop pods and thunderfire cannons and then the rest foot soldiers but feel free to just say "that's a dumb idea do this..." So let me know what you think and I'd love to hear ideas of what you all think I should do!
I'm going to use the forge world rules for these boys so here they are:
Strike from the Shadows (as per the Raven Guard Chapter Tactic in Codex: Space Marines): Models in this detachment have the Scout special rule. In addition, on the first game turn, models in the detachment have the Stealth special rule. Note that units which contain models with any variant of the Bulky special rule do not benefit from either rule.
Legendary Marksmen: Any unit with this special rule that does not move in the Movement phase of their turn may choose to gain the Rending special rule when firing in the Shooting phase of that turn with boltguns, combi-weapons fired as boltguns or bolt pistols.
When using this rule, all boltguns, combi-weapons used as boltguns and bolt pistols fired are counted as being Heavy 1 weapons instead of Rapid Fire or Pistol type weapons for that turn.
Thanks in advance guys!
