Not sure if this is the place to post this but I am really unsure on how skill checks work, cant find any info everywhere? I am waiting for my rulebook to come in, its on order. Is it just like a command check? I need to roll the number or under to do my repair? Where do you see the skill check number on the cards?
After looking into battle mechaniks for Khador they seem like a fantastic idea to help out my jacks and MOW. Thanks dakka!

Its exactly like a command check. Roll 2D6 and get equal or under the value.
Page 29 has the information.

Grey Templar has it right on skills.
The only thing extra I'll note is that the skill level box is the same as the box for "magic ability" on non-warcaster magic users (like Grey Lords or Vassals of Menoth). The difference being that skill checks need a roll, magic actions/attacks just happen but the number is used for their roll to hit for attacks. Magic Ability is on p83.
I'm just telling you that so you don't think that your Greylords (or anything else with Magic Ability) need to roll a skill check to cast spells, which confused me the first time I played

They're not 100% essential, though they are incredibly useful when accompanying Conquest (and the UA is good target for some throwing shenanigans). Repairing up to 7D6 damage from any jack with a full unit plus UA can be somewhat disheartening.
