I only just started with Tyranids a short while ago and don't have a whole lot but I'm planning on taking part in a local tournament this weekend. Here's my list. Again, I have limited variety, mostly what I have is what I have, but if people can suggest alternate biomorphs/upgrades, etc... that are better I'm open to suggestions.
HQ
- Deathleaper (130pts)
- Hive Tyrant (215 pts), Warlord, Electroshock Grubs, Heavy Venom Cannon, Twin-linked Devourers w/ Brainleech Worms
Elites
- Haruspex (190 pts), Regeneration
- Lictor Brood (50 pts), 1 Lictor
- Zoanthrope Brood (100 pts), 2 x Zoanthrope
Troops
- Termagant Brood (84 pts), 9 X Devourers, 3 X Spike Rifles
- Termagant Brood (80 pts), 8 X Devourers, 4 X spike Rifles
- Tyranid Warrior Brood (110 pts), 2 X Deathspitters and Scything Talons, 1 X Barbed Strangler and Scything Talons
Heavy Support
- Carnifex (170 pts), Bio-plasma, 2 X Twin-linked Devourer w/Brainleech Worms
- Mawloc (140 pts)
- Trygon Prime (230 pts)
The optional models I can sub in are 1 Tyranid Warrior Prime, 8 genestealers, and 1 Broodlord.
I ran this list against a friends 1500 pt tournament eldar last weekend. I was able to infiltrate Deathleaper and the other lictor and utilize pheromone trail to land in the mawloc and trygon prime without error on turns 2 and turn 3. I ended up winning by destroying all his troops and going to ground with my gaunts on a couple of objectives.
The Trygon decimated a couple of eldar troop units and the mawloc was able to clean out 75% of some eldar unit with Strength 10, 12" range guns. They were high tough unit.
I didn't get to see my carnifex in action due to some eldar sniper special character which has some special rule to kill any model without a save outright no matter how many wounds or toughness it has. Very disappointing.
My Haruspex didn't do too much damage, but I will say it was excellent at drawing enemy fire. At one point it was down to 1 wound, and through Regeneration and Feeder-Beast was back to 4 wounds by the end of the game and had tied down some open-topped eldar walkers that were ravaging my termagaunts.
Aside from the lictor's pheromone trail it was also able to take out an eldar troop unit which my termagaunts had nearly wrecked. Deathleaper didn't do too much. There was so much eldar high strength, twin-linked linked this, twin-linked that, 7 shots from this vehicle, twin linked krak missiles from another I kept him mostly in hiding.
