Okay Gents,
This is my third and last list, if I can tweak it a bit, then I will have a good well rounded army that can be fielded in three different variants: BA JP, SW DP, and now DW.

I haven't played a full terminator army in 6th, so I am a bit behind. Any advice would be appreciated...

DA (Deathwing):
- Belial
- 2x Dreadnought, AC, ML
- 2x 5-Termies, AC, 1x LC, 2xTH/SS

Ideas? I know its not competitve, but I am hoping it can at least hold its own, although it is only a 12 model army.....

An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded

Dreads work best when their in a drop pod. Yours are built sort of wonky (but useable). I'd probably drop one dread. And instead take a tactical squad or a devestator squad and have a guy man an adl with quad gun to give you some AAA.

Tbh I think that's all the advice your going to get from me. I think terminator heavy armies are stupid and your just asking for trouble. Because they cost too much and are so limited in their ability to combat threats as a whole (no inherent aaa, poor at, slow in their ability to cross the table, I could go on)

There's my advice, hope you find it useful; sorry if this comes across a bit wonky or mean spirited.

DA army: 3500pts,
admech army: 600pts
ravenguard: 565 pts

1000 points is very hard to consider an "army" especially with terminators. If this is added to a larger force it may work. Problem is, 12 models is just not going to cut it. I have played small games with my DW before just to see how they'd do and the truth of the matter is that it rarely works.

Armies like IG, Tau, and Orks will just have so many guys, or so much shooting, you can't win. Plus, every 1 you roll is essentially a dead terminator worth 45+ points. Effectiveness wise it's sadly not going to do much more than drop in and then die. I have been very underwhelmed by my terminators in almost all scenarios, however. They just aren't very good no matter how cool they are :/ Sorry that's not what you want to hear but it's what I have found to be true.

As for cool factor, I like it and go for it. It gives you some cool hobby stuff. Maybe try and go for the Mortis pattern dreadnought with 2x twin-linked autocannon. And then maybe a plasma cannon or something? Ap2 blast can be nasty at 1000 points if it hits something expensive, like terminators

Have a look at my thread here for some more ideas: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/576576.page

I often play DW at 1000 points, and it is a true challenge to fit things in that you need. They are not competitive, but it is great when you pull off a win.

Personally I'd load up with TH/SS terminators. Nothing else will cut it. Shooty terminators are terrible for their points, and LC are just a bad trade off compared to Str 8 and ap 2, with a 3++ save. For heavy weapons AC and CML are the preferable choices, though I often take a HF if using belial to deepstrike them.

I'd recommend mortis dreadnoughts if you are going to use dreads (not contemptor mortis though, too expensive points-wise now for DW at 1000pts) with either Lascannons or possibly autocannons (the lascannons give it better anti-vehicle, which may be needed depending on your meta). They have skyfire, which can be useful, and are a better source of heavy weapons than a normal dread. (Also DA can have more than 1, so it will be fluffy.

At the moment I am trying to use a landraider in the list, to prevent enemy damage by having a big moving LoS blocking wall on the board. I am split between the achilles or the spartan at the moment, as to which one I prefer.

You might want to try using the FNP standard to help survivability (save 2 terminators with FNP and the banner will have been worth it). Personally I don't like how much it restricts your movement.

The final thing I try to use is a squad of Deathwing knights, as they are the most durable and point efficient terminator available to you. They are not scoring however.

I read your thread. Some great stuff in there. I am slowly thinking though that possibly it would be a better idea to do a split of Deathwing with some Tactical marines to back it up?

I am looking towards something like this:
-Belial
-Deathwing Knights
-DW Termie squad
-2x Tactical Squad (7 Marines), Plasma, ML

This is just being thrown together mentally, unsure of the total points cost or really the viability.

Maybe now thinking of dropping the one DW squad and using the points for some tactical squad mobility or maybe some RW?

Ravenwing don't reach their full potential unless they are scoring units imo.

If you are planning on making a dualwing kind of list, then Azrael would be the go to HQ choice.

Edit: This would be if you are taking RAS of course, if you are thinking of black knights then go for it.
