Bounding Black Templar Assault Marine

Ok, I made a post a while back along these lines, but I'm not sure if replying to that constitutes as being a necro....I guess reposting similar topics could be bad as well....hm. Apologies if I've broken any forum rules with this.'

I'm doing a Ravenwing army, good lord am I slow at putting together 2k worth of bikes and speeders! I'm getting close to done building though, so yeehaw! I also recently finished the Ravenwing novel, which I liked a great deal. However it gave me pause as to colors of special characters.

Now, I can't recall page numbers, but I could probably find them if needed. But at one point they reference a techmarine as having all black armor, save for his shoulder pad with the techmarine emblem on it being red. At another point, Sammael, a chaplain and a librarian are standing on a hill and it says 'Three figures stood there, their armour as black as the night sky behind them'.

This leads me to believe that all members of the Ravenwing wear black armor...or the argument could be made for it anyway. The only thing I couldn't find was mention of the apothecary's armor, which was a shame.

Anyway...what are your thoughts on this? I'm leaning towards doing my libby black with perhaps a bit of blue on the right shoulder pad at this point.

It was never clear nor stringent with the color of office for any chapter, but most of the time it's the chapter color only on the shoulder pads (at least the studio minis are painted that way btw so is the Ravenwing Command Squad Apothecary).

From what you have stated, I think the reason for the completely black armor in the novel is to make them look more unified. The Ravenwing is the topic of the book after all.

Personally I like the paint splatter which the special characters offer to an probably otherwise too boring looking army (generally Astartes armies, not just the Ravenwing), so gladly paint them in their color of office with only the shoulder pads and maybe the backpacks and helmets in chapter color but it's completely up to you

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!
