So I've been planning to go to the Grand Tournament. I'm probably going to take a more familiar list, since my Pods might not be built/painted by July '06 (first they've got to get here). But, I look to the future. I figured, what would be fun to do? What would be fluffy and interesting to do?

My first idea was Traits, but I figured that I might as well play Space Wolves with the traits I was taking (something I sorely wanted to avoid). So, I turned to Pods. The basic idea of dropping 1" from IG, Tau, or Eldar lines was tempting and getting a use out of flamers even more so.

I'll explain my choices, represent by the asterisk (*).

Traits: Courageous, Stern
Trait Advantages: Cleanse and Purify, Trust your Battle-brothers
Major Drawback: Eye to Eye
Minor Drawback: Death Before Dishonour

*Cleanse and Purify is obvious, packing double Meltas to make up for my lack of anti-tank. Trust your Battle-brothers is what I was using before, and I've found that the skills really help out in close combat (effectively doubling the ability of each marine when they are charged/subsequent rounds). Combined with 'Podding, the inevitable charge.
Eye to Eye is there since 1: it's my least disliked Major Drawback and 2: I'm deepstriking everything, so I figure Bikes wouldn't be exactly needed. Death Before Dishonour, IMHO, is more of an advantage than a drawback, and is by far my favorite drawback.

*Master is pretty bareboned and self-explanatory. Apothecary is there to take care of overheating Plasmas as they double-tap. The Epistolary is there just in case of multi-wound gribblies. He's also got FotD to make the enemy run of the board, and MoH to increase the slaughtering of the Troops.

*Dreads are there for some anti-infantry fire power. Extra Armour so that even when stunned, they'll be able to get in the thick of things.

*Meltas for Tank and MEQ duty, Sarge for the charge. Purity seals (on anything that has 'em) are just extra points.

TOTAL POINTS: 1499
Model Count: 34 Infantry, 2 Walkers, 6 Drop Pods

So, does this list stand a chance? Or will it get torn to shreds?

that is a really expensive hq unit, an assault weapon would be better to get a charge on following turns after dropping, even so the librarian is too expensive a character to include and if you are going to give your captain true grit then just give him a bolter and drop all purity seals

the points left over from the dropped lib and seals should allow you to include a couple of tornadoes or another dread
