Recently picked up an entire IG (AM now?) army, and have 3 tanks (and 2 Vendetta's) to paint, is it possible for a newbie to magnatise the turrents and sponsons so they can be easily switched out if I want to make my exterminator a demolisher or somesuch?

Possible? Entirely. I fully magnetized a Predator quite early in my hobby "career" without following any particular tutorials - in fact, I did rather differently than most. Still worked, though, because I thought it through.

Magnetization doesn't really require any specifically cultured or finely honed skills; it's mostly about reasonable care in both planning and execution. Search for old magnetization threads (there are tons) for general tips, then make a plan of attack. If you aren't sure about something after that, you'll have a better sense of what you actually need to ask to move forward.

Good luck!
