I was playing against a guy last thursday who thought that you center a 4 inch AOE on the Ironclad for a quake attack and models under that are knocked down. They way the card reads however, it says models within two inches of this model are knocked down, so I was measuring from the base which of course made the quake far more useful for me and knocked down one other troll in his unit. He kept insisting that it was the AOE though, and since I had already gotten one rule wrong that evening I decided to go with it. So are you supposed to place the AOE or measure from the base?

You measure two inches from the base. The card means exactly what it says on it.

First, the attack is called Tremor, not quake. Quake is a different rule.

Second, tell him to read the freaking card. It clearly says the distance is 2" from the edge of the base.

You also make a single melee attack roll to make the Tremor attack. Any models whose Def is hit by that roll + mat is effected if they are within 2". Its not automatic.

You can also make Tremor when you charge as its a melee * attack(because its on a melee weapon), however you do need to still get into .5" melee range to make a successful charge.

Thanks everyone. I forgot what it was called since I didn't have the card on me at the time. I made the roll and it beat the defense of everything within 2 inches of the 'jack. That was when he centered the AOE because it "made measuring what was within two inches easier". Other than the AOE I did everything right, getting into melee, rolling, etc. Next time I play I'll make sure the other person understands what the card says.

I also fixed the title of the post while I was at it.
