i have been dojo-ing this list and playing it. its really freaking good.
Butcher 3
Conquest
IFP
--Black Dragon Officer and Standard
Iron Fang Kovnik
Doom Reavers
--Greylord Escort
the weird thing is this list plays really well in scenario play. butcher 3 is the back drop that ensures that whatever they commit too, they won't survive it and he clears zones. the doom reavers also do the same thing, although you could replace the doom reavers and UA with the great bears and Eiris, something i have been dojo-ing.
the thing is, there is so much concentrated threat between butcher, doom reavers and conquest, that its really hard for the opponent to choose what to target and what gets threat priority, and when you move up and hug and objective with conquest and IFP, and hold the reavers back with butcher, often your opponent doesn't know what to do because they are preparing for an assassination run. on top of that the kovnik, + energizer means that your IFP will get where they are going without breaking up shield wall, keeping their survivability up, and forcing them into a game attempting to take on the IFP that will be backed up by reavers and escort, or conquest just decides to join in the fun.
there are a lot of combinations in this list, but the most important thing here is that the threat density is so big, that holding zones is really easy with this list. even spells like impending doom can sweep opponents off of an objective, and make it easier for some IFP to finish the job.
and worse comes to worse, load up butcher, energizer, and go for an assassination run. at some point, especially in scenario, they have to choose where to go and where to make a stand. let them choose, and keep butcher down the middle to make sure that when they do, he will be there to flashing blade and impending doom everyone. just don't forget:
1. bestial will kill you dead. that spell shuts down butcher. watch out for kromak.
2. feat when needed. don't leave an armor 18 butcher out there with no camp. he will die. your opponents will do everything in their power to make sure he does.
3. know when to facing blade, know when to buy an attack, know when to boost to hit. sometimes with butcher, you cannot afford to miss. boosting damage is stupid with him. he is already a PS16 WM.
4. don't forget about vengeance. use the dogs to trigger vengeance moves. not quite as good as warpath, but can be used for great effect.
5.critical devestation is a thing. let the conquest do its job. if you want to get nuts, give it two focus in one turn, but i wouldn't go anywhere else with it. conquest has plenty of attacks, plenty of decent guns, and is hard to kill. on top of that, its a colossal, so pushing it off an objective without killing it is out of the question.
6. IFP FTW. super crazy mini feat on shield wall to make sure they can't push you off an objective until reavers or butcher can get there is super legit. that pushes them to an arm 22 infantry unit. thats hard to kill for almost anything, but make sure you can deal with things that can push/pull you out of formation. its a great way to wreck shield wall. positioning is very important here.
