I have a few small questions to do with retribution.
Firstly i was reading through the theme armies in the book and, one of the tiers said i could take any mage hunter solo unit free of cost and, does not contribute to the FA. Does this mean i could take a two of a C unit so long as it was a mage hunter because one of them doesn't apply to FA. (sorry if its a stupid question.)
Secondly i was woundering what peoples opinions were on Elara, tyro of the third chamber, because to me she looks like a fairly solid unit and could be useful for a little utility beefing up my warjacks a little but, talking to my boyfriend he didn't think she was that great so a little advice would be great

Yes, if it says it doesn't count against FA it means you could have 1 more than the FA normally permits.

And because it says solo, it would only be a solo and not a unit. I believe you are referring to Ravyns "Will of the 9 Voices" tier. Which is if you have 3 units of MHSF you get a Mage Hunter solo for free.

That solo can be either Eiryss(epic or prime), the generic Mage Hunter Assassin, Narn the Mage Hunter of Ios, or Nayl. They are all Mage Hunter solos, so you get one for free ignoring FA. Which only matters for the Mage Hunter Assassin as the others are Characters.


And Elara is ok, but only as a solo. Do NOT give her any jacks. because if she dies the Jacks get turned off and basically useless for the rest of the game unless you are willing to expose your warcaster and the jack doing nothing for an entire round, likely 2 as you would have to get to the jack.

This is because when a Warcaster dies their Warjacks become inert, and that rule extends to junior warcasters.

And I can guarantee that Elara is not hard to kill. And if she's got 12-15 points riding on her squishy 5 hit boxes your opponent will kill her. He may sacrifice a heavy to do it and win the point trade.


But if she is just a 3 point solo with focus then she is actually a good idea. She can definitely get work done with boosts available.

The only problem is unless you backed the Kickstarter, or pay some exorbitant amount of e-bay, you won't have an Elara model till PP releases their normal sculpts which could be a while.

FA C (for character) means you can only ever have 1 of that model in your army no matter what. In this case the benefit is 1 character magehunter solo for free or a non-character magehunter solo for free that wont count towards the FA. Additionally you can only ever have 1 of the 3 Eirysss in your army.

i was quoting the wrong theme list at the time i remembered earlier that the reason i was curious was because tier two on kalyssa's army allows a free "mage hunter unit attachment".
being the exact term in the army book for one mage hunter strike force. So i was wondering if that would mean being able to attach an elite unit attachment eiryss to the unit and having the mage hunter of ios single
And chaotic mind that was my assumption as well but neither of the tier listing rules say non character they just say one costless solo hence i was confused on if it would be allowed
