HQ - 2 aspiring champs: Mark of Khorne, speed, mutation, spiky bitz, powerfist, bolt pistol

156

(these are modelled as centauroid marines, lead the mutant squads)

TROOPS

(traitors are ungors, mutants are gors or maybe centigors if I can find a cheapish way to convert them)

2 units of 8 traitors: lascannon, plasma gun

2 units of 8 traitors: autocannon, heavy stubber

366

2 units of mutants: daemonic speed, 2 flamers, CCWs

mutant boss w/ powerfist & CCW

516

ELITES

Obliterator (wacky cyborg minotaur conversion)

FA

2 hellhounds

230

HS

2 basilisks with indirect fire

250

36 traitors, 30 mutants, 4 guard tanks, 2 marines, 1 morphological freak with a 2+/5++ save

Mainly this is a beastmen with lasguns modelling project, but I'm gonna get angry if I can't win any games.  Is it shooty enough?  Choppy enough?  It's got that vaguely unfocused feeling.

Dakka on World of Warcraft:

MANNAHNIN: I know two guys who have had to quit the game cold turkey because the time investment required by it caused problems with their family life.

JFRAZELL: So in other words, nature is self selecting out those not fit to survive and breed? Hail WOW replacing savannah lions since 1997...

Drop the mutants flamers you would want to fleet with them every time. I think that the traitor units are too big, make them 5 men each with just a lascannon. And you could definately use some more assaulty stuff.

With the galaxy as large as it is the odds of the average guardsmen seeing and fighting a marine or MEQ are relatively slim. Unfortunately the guardsmen in your (and anyone else who plays IG's) army are the REALLY, REALLY LUCKY ones that fight marines ALL the time...

I agree with most of Banesword's suggestions. In general terms, the list packs a lot of firepower, but not much punch on the assault end. A pack or 2 of demons would definitely make the threat of the leaping mutant mobs more potent. Trimming down the traitor squads (fewer traitors; no special weapons) and the champions (maybe lose the spikey bitz) will buy you enough points for a pack of furies, at least.
You might even want to consider dropping one of the tanks to get enough points for some bloodletters.
