So I'm picking up Daemons of Chaos for Warhammer Fantasy (though I may double dip into 40k later on), and I love the rules for Slaanesh. Thing is, I absolutely hate all of the models except for the mounts and chariots. So, I've been looking for ways that I can convert models into something rather Slaaneshy. My initial ideas involved a lot of Dark Elf/Daemon mashups, but I recently discovered that Dark Elves are mounted on 20mm bases and therefore just slightly smaller than Daemonettes. So, in my search for new ideas, I stumbled upon converted Dryads.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/423156-Horror%20Squad%201%20and%202.html

Those are supposed to be Horrors, but I feel that they have just as much promise as potential Daemonettes. I also found a Dryad conversion that will work well as a herald: http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff13/theblackshade/Warhammer/Nymph.jpg

As far as my Keeper of Secrets goes, I figure a conversion with the new Treeman model will not be difficult. I'll just have to file off/otherwise remove the leaves and whatnot.

For chariots and Seekers, I figured I'd just replace the riders with Dryads. Easy enough.

Here's where I start to need help.

My thoughts on painting are to keep most of it in Slaanesh colors for the main body/arms, but for extruding points (Dryad back branches, all that extra stuff on the Treeman), paint it white so it looks like protruding bones, perhaps? I'm not sure about that bit, because bone doesn't seem that Slaaneshy, so I'm looking for thoughts on that. Removal of backbranches/treeman extra branch/twig/things is an option that I have considered.

I'm at a loss for how I would convert my fiends. I considered doing a centaurification of a Dryad with a horse/stag/something, but I decided that using the dryads raises questions about the Dryads riding Seekers and Chariots, so I decided against that. I'm not sure what else I could do, because I do not like the Treekin models (unless they released new ones while I wasn't looking?).

I also don't know where to begin with a Soul Grinder. I'm not even sure if I want to field one yet, but I wanted to have a conversion idea prepared in case I decide to. I would be comfortable using more metal looking pieces here, because the army book specifically says that they hybridize demon with machine. I just don't know how I'd do it.

The last thing I'm having questions about is Furies. Like the Soul Grinder, I'm not even sure I'd actually use them (these lean much more towards no), but I wanted to have ideas ready. Any thoughts?

These are just some of the things I"m struggling with here. I appreciate any help that you guys can give. Also, if you have thoughts about how I could better do models I already have ideas I'm comfortable with (Seekers, Chariots, Keeper, Daemonettes), please, let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Your ideas sound great id go for it if I was you converted armies are loads of fun, if you read the slaanesh section of the 40k codex, it talks about slaaneshes garden and how the thorny vines trap people so the dryads and treeman are quite fitting they just need painting and converting a bit as your potentially going be playing against woodelf armies and nothing will spoil the allusion more than if your army just looks like there's but pinky.

My partners current project for 40k is a full slaanesh army. Thing is she dislikes a lot of the models so we are doing a fully converted/proxy army.
The army will also contain not slaanesh units that have been modelled in the vein of slaanesh, each gods forces will be used to vaguely represent some of the different areas of slaanesh domain.
For instance, Troops are represented as:
Daemonettes: 50/50 mix of daemonette kit and DE wyches kits to creates hybrid daemonettes with a mix of normal limbs and daemon limbs wielding a mix of melee weapons and claws.
Plaugue bearers: dryads with converted full command.
Horrors: night gobos with hoods hollowed out and tentacles just peaking out from under the cloaks.
Bloodletters: as them selves with new face sculpt and new limb sculpts and the brands filed off.
Soul grinder: spider centaur using the arachnirok and a child's doll heavily green stuffed.
daemon prince 1: spider centaur with finecast daemon character upper and gobo chieftain giant spider lower.
daemon prince 2: medusa from dark elf kit.
Skull cannon: dark elf carriage converted to have the mirror as a beam weapon.
seekers: wood elf sisters of thorn with daemonette parts.
fiends: witch elves jumping/kicking/extra dynamic to make them appear larger to make them better proxy. (we considered spider riders to make more mini centaurs too)
greater daemon: new tree man kit converted.
all these models have been given base swaps and conversions measured to make them as suitable proxies as possible.

so far that's all we've made, but we have plans for more stuff! we will probably put her stuff up on a PnM blog when I get time. hope that's of help.

Thanks for the support! I'm glad someone things that my conversion idea sounds good. I was a bit unsure of it when I started. I haven't read the 40k Daemon codex, but I'll have access to it Tuesday, so I'll read that then. Thanks for the tip.

Quick thought for your friend:
My original idea had 50/50 Daemonettes and Witch Elves, but I've been told that they are on two different base sizes and the Witch Elves' bitz are not the right size for the Daemonettes. I don't know about the Wyches (Dark Elder, right?), but that's something that I'd definitely confirm BEFORE buying up the kits. I narrowly avoided wasting $60.

Yeah I look forward to seeing your versions of a full fantasy slaanesh army. Like I said tho bare in mind you may have to face of against the models you use in your conversions/proxies so you need to make sure they are very distinguished not just pink n purple.
We have the luck that doing a 40k side, fantasy models will only appear on the table as conversions so are totally fair game to use scratch.

If you keep an eye on my gallery I will post up picks of the DE wych + daemonette kitbash. you can cut a Wyche up the middle and literaly swap one leg or torso them are perfectly sized give or take a mm hear n there.
Originally she wanted the same as u, to use all witch elves but a mix of different proportions and cost of the kit made us think otherwise.
Witch elves look great as slaanesh models as they seemed so dynamic we adjusted the posses further and used them to represent 'beast unit type' as they get extra move ect seemed fitting.

Goodluck!!!

You linked to some of n0t_u's pictures. Have you checked out her entire gallery? She has one for her finished Daemons of Slaanesh as well as one for all of her Slaanesh WIPS. And there are lots of goodies! Most... if not, all, of her stuff is converted or homemade with GS. I highly, highly recommend you check it out.

It's all in the rolls.
