Been Around the Block

Good morning friends!

I am biting the bullet and getting ready to jump into Hordes again. I love the fluff and mechanics of the game but I have never been very good at it. So I figured I should start my first list with models I actually like. SO here it is.

Exalted Makeda
Molik
Bronzeback
Tiberion
2 min unit handlers

I have not purchased anything yet so any thoughts you can share, constructive or destructive, will certainly gain you the thanks of my wallet!

Drop Tiberion for a Gladiator. Swordsmen go great with Makeda. They screen your beasts and can easily eliminate a jam unit with their mini feat.

Welcome to the best army out there. Makeda3 is still new to us and there is play testing abound. She is basically a super solo that can do heavy lifting herself. She really shines with her feat and it goes well with the "Holy Trinity" Bronze Back, Karn and Gladiator, with beat back, side stepping, and reach Karn is crazy on feat turn since every kill allows you to remove fury it is very possible to wipe out entire units with him. Personally I run those 3 with her, mandatory beast handlers and 2 units of bog trog ambusers with support. The threat of ambushing bog trogs force your enemy into the middle all bunched up which is exactly where you want them. I've also heard sunhammer works well with Farrow Slaughterhousers, gives the beasts and jacks D3 damage and once damaged they get an extra die of damage from finisher that's 4 dice on the charge with a taskmaster giving +2 STR so on average dice 27 damage.

There have been some recent experimenting with her with 3 brutes on the table. Brutes are an awesome beast, often overlooked they are great for holding zones, body guarding, make good transfer targets. Joe Marrion took this to WMWeekend 2013 (not sure how he did) and it also had been experimented by Staks and to see that thread check here: http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?192698-Staks-tournament-reports-with-Makeda-3

Play what you want, Makeda3 is the warlock I grab when I want to have a good time and she generally performs well. I like Mechromancers advice, though I do love Tiberion, he is better IMO with her prime version due to her spells. Swordsmen are something I cannot get behind, only eMakeda offers them benefits, for a jam unit Nihilators with tough and reach do a better job.

Cool thing about Makeda3 is she does almost nothing for her army so there really isn't any must haves.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd
