Hello All,
I am currently playing a Bard in a pathfinder game, and my bard's method of performing/storytelling is by performing magic shows(Las Vegas David Copperfield style). I am an Aasimar, so with my supernatural heritage and with a variety of zero level spells to draw from, my DM allows me to get away with some very intricate performances. In battle, I have boosted my allies by:
-Making shadow puppets that seem to attack our opponents shadows
-Chaining albatrosses to our opponents necks(ship battle)
-Making illusions of thunder and lightning
-Setting the combat as an old school silent move
-Breaking the 4th wall and making the characters see people rolling dice to decide their fate
I take pride on my ability to do something awesome during battle to make it more thematic. The whole idea of a "lute playing bard" really turns me off, so I don't use my bardic performance ability unless I have a really cool show to do. However, this has led to a couple of times where the party needed a boost, and I held back for lack of a cool idea.
Here is where you come in. I need a plethora of ideas to perform so I can always buff when needed. Since the performance is just used to inspire, and like all magic is is just illusion, suggestion etc. my DM lets me do basically anything I want so long as it is just used for inspiration.
What would be cool to see done? What are cool magic tricks that you are a part of? What myths, legends, philosophies, religious stories, sci-fi supernatural stuff would inspire you?
Thanks for the help.
