I have just come back to Warhammer 40k and I really like developing background stories.
Looking forward to potential games of Apocalypse as I collect sufficient funds/pieces I wanted to have a reason for the various armies to be working together. What I am currently working on is a Space Marines chapter, successor chapter of Blood Angels along side several regiments of Imperial Guard raised in the system controlled by my Chapter.
Asking myself why the Marines would tolerate the normal human Imperial Guards, I had to come up with something to give them few other choices. This would also be a vehicle for adding in other armies as I learned about them. So, the chapter was created some time, not sure at the 2nd founding or 21st or whenever, need more research on that, and they went off to reclaim the Malekrav system from Heresy and the agents of Chaos. They spent several centuries scouring the planet's hive cities and vast northern desert until the world was cleansed, almost. A series of warp rifts were opened on one of the smaller southern continents. These rifts were allowing hordes of daemons to pour out and threatened to undo all the work of the Chapter.
Imperial Guard regiments were raised in order to throw wave after wave of guys at the wave after wave of daemons allowing the Space Marines psykers to close the barriers down. But the seals need to be maintained and over the centuries they have been breached. Therefor the Chapter master raises and maintains several regiments from the worlds in the Malekrav system to help keep these daemons from swallowing the planet and moving beyond.
Now I have a great excuse to have Marines and IG fighting side by side in similar color schemes.
What I need help with is:
figuring out when exactly to have this chapter founded
how the IG and Marines would get along, knowing that the chapter master is system governor
will there be any adaptus mechanicus presence in the Malekrav system
where is this system in relation to other places?
other things I have failed to consider but more experience lorecrafters would know.
thanks!
