I think dreadball looks pretty cool and it gives an excuse to star new hobby projects.

I want to have 2 teams but not sure which ones to pick.

Other team is orx but I don't know anything about other teams (background, playstyle etc.).
What do the giants and mvps do? How much do they differ from each other.
Is the referee just for looks or does it have a usefull use?
How big tiles should be?

ty in advance

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

Well, assuming you get the starter kit with the board and cards it comes with 2 teams the Corporation (human) and Marauders (orks). They are both very soldi teams that play differently.

The other teams are all fun and very resonably priced so it's not a major investment to spring for a new team.

As for MVPs, they are special character with some very interesting abilities. I haven't used them yet but I have heard they are fun but they are not overpowered.

The Ref model is important for both calling fouls on your opponent and since you move the ref model at the start of your turn you can use it to block movement lanes for your opponent.

I'd second the box game as a good place to start. The corporation team are actually one of the strongest teams as although their statline is 'average' across the board they have no weaknesses. And Orx just punch people. In the face. If your Orx guards aren't punching someone in the face you're playing them wrong. Or there is nobody left on the pitch to punch. The season two and three teams become increasingly trickier to play well as they get more special rules that define their play styles (although the Nameless are so good it is hard to play them badly). It is generally agreed that the Forgefathers (dwarves) are the weakest team as they are vulnerable to being hit from behind by everyone else who can run farther than they can.

The MVPs are a very mixed bag. They can add some interesting twists into otherwise predictable teams though the rules for including them in a team are based on you playing in an ongoing league. Some are much better than others though (number 88 was originally a game breaker and got nerfed but is still one of the strongest and Buzzcut can splatter a team pretty much on his own - seriously, he hits you on a 2+). I sometimes use them as coach figures.

Giants are a special type of MVP and are really only intended for the big multiplayer Dreadball Ultimate variant though I can't see why you couldn't stick them in a normal game if you wanted. They have different movement rules and various other complications (such as occupying three hexes, not just one) to take into account. Like the MVPs they aren't particularly well balanced either (and yes Nameless Spawn I'm looking at you and your uber-deadly rule combo).

If you are new to the game I'd avoid the Zees team as they can be fiddly to play (and just irritating to play against).
