Hi.

My name is Mumblez and I'm new to Dakka Dakka. I used to lurk here a lot and will probably continue doing so even though I have now registered! Old habits die hard...

Anyway, I used to play 40K during 5th edition and WHFB during... 7th? I'm not sure about the latter, it was the Battle for Skull Pass boxed set, I know that for sure. I started off playing WHFB as Night Gobbos and moved on to 40K Orks. My Orks were a simple horde army at first but then evolved into a low model count force of Meganobs in Battlewagons. I liked 5th edition, it was fun, but as time went on I found less and less time for 40K. This was after I had pretty much dropped WHFB completely, too. So gradually, I stopped converting, painting and playing, until I was doing nothing Warhammer-related for about 2 and a half years!

During this time I apparently missed 6th edition 40K (which I didn't know was a thing until about a year ago, ha) and a bunch of WHFB shenanigans. Apparently Demons aren't the top dogs anymore! This was news to me.

Anyway, I recently got back into the loop and since 7th edition 40K just came out, I figured this was the perfect time to try gettin' back into it. I bought the new rulebook, read through it as fast as I could and found myself all excited by the possibilities that were now before me! Now I had to pick an army...

So a little bit of a story. A few years ago on the old GW website there was a battle report featuring an army made up of Giants fighting against the Empire, I think. It was very, very cool. I've always been drawn to big monsters and large walkers so a whole army of those was right up my alley. Sadly, at that time there was no such army in the game that I liked. So I continued trying to finish my Night Goblins and my Meganobs, never really getting anywhere. I just wasn't motivated - what I really, really wanted was an army of giants.

And so, now that I'm back I've decided to go with the Imperial Knights! Except not really. Don't get me wrong, Knights, your lore is superb, but my heart is green and my blood is mixed with fungus and algae. What I'm trying to say is, I'm a greenskin player. So what I'll be doing is creating an army of orky knights! I've already gotten one knight and I'm working on painting him now. I may start a Painting and Modelling blog.

What I want to do more than anything this time around is not waste my time within the hobby. I want to buy miniatures, build them, modify them, make them completely unique and then actually paint and play with them...! I didn't get to do much of the last two things due to my own incompetence last time around, so now I want to do better!

Thanks for reading, guys! And sorry for making such a long first post...

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Hi Mumblez, welcome to Dakka!

I actually remember that battle report you were talking about – it seems to have been very inspiring.

Anyway, great to have you here and looking forward to seeing your model(s).
