Standing outside Jester's house demanding the things he took from my underwear drawer.

Im working on 3 new Broadside conversions with advanced stabilizers.

I'm thinking about doing something with the feet/legs to make it look like they have a system where they can quickly deploy something to stabilize them.  I might also link up the railguns together for true twin linked.  If I do this I could move the rockets off of the arms, so they'd be freed up for conversion work if needed.

I saw the GW gyroscope conversion, but I want something different.

I'm game on any suggestions, comments, or fresh ideas to get my creativity flowing.

This is true brainstorming, just throw out any ideas for the conversion.  Sometimes the more off the wall topics lead to a feasable idea.

Oh, and I have Greydeaths wonderfully original and unique conversions bookmarked, so I don't need to be directed there.

I've seen the Reaper Exarch with both weapon options and both look like things you can buy in sex shops. A weapon should not look like this, not even a Emperor's Children weapon. -Symbio Joe

You could go the new Biovore-style pitons on the forearms... When he's ready to fire, the suit crouches and drives his pitons into the ground.

Alternatively some sort of pylon system extending from the Railguns themselves-- when the suit is ready to fire, the pylons deploy into the ground to stabilize it. For instance, high-strength grapples that shoot down from the shoulder mountings.

Party on, dudes.

The railgun toting Glitterboys of Rifts RPG had both the pylon concept and small rockets on the back.

Along those same lines, my idea for an ASS conversion was instead of putting the plates on the jump pack I'd replace the large thrusters with smaller, multi direction thrusters. I have a couple ideas on how to do it but it is hard to explain with words.

I was under the impression that because Rail Guns were Rail Guns... using magnetic accelerators.. they would have zero recoil.

You would be wrong then.

Newtons 3rd Law of Motion requires there to be a force of equal magnetude in the opposite direction.

That's right___gravity and electromagnetism are 2 distinct fundamental forces.
If Railguns wouldn't have recoil, then you'd get hit by an ultra-speed train operating with supraconducting magnets and wouldn't get a single bruise for your troubles. In reality, you're going to get liquified on contact and your gory remains will be spread up to a mile away.

As for A.S.S. Broadsides, multi-legged ones might be a good idea, as evidenced below by Greydeath___hell I like that guy! Also, the Glitter Boy-type recoil assist isn't a bad idea at all.

Here is a wip pic of my broadsides.  I was going for true twin linked railguns.  It wouldn't be hard to put some stabilizer on the back to show the A.S.S. if you wanted it to.

And if the pic doesn't work, here is a link

Those are looking alittle like Brokeback Broadsides to me, not to sure if i would go with that conversion...

Just beef up the legs, use warlord titan bits or somthing

For stability, you can't beat shifting the Rail Guns as low as possible, as on the Forgeworld XV88-2:

You could also add a folding support leg, either between the former jump packs or in place of them.

Maybe try running some plastic tubeing down the back of his legs.

Large up top. With a thin smaller piece slid inside. So as you get to his feet you would have the small piston looking like it would support the added weight?

You might be able to do two smaller pistons or one large piston and hydralic ram down the back of the legs.

This would show the support system very well without locking into the ground etc.

And the rails you could mount one on the arm socked instead of a arm.

Then mount the other directly ontop of it but slightly back ontop of the shoulder then you would have a truely twin looking railgun?

And then drill and mount the arm after that if you like or leave it off.

move the missiles to the other shoulder and the arm

So you would me rails on one side missiles on the other?

or just mount the rails and the arms and try that.

Well thats a couple ideas off the top of my head. Good luck cant wait to see what you come up with.

Good luck.

In the spirit of throwing ideas out, you could use tracks. I'm thinking of that one Gundam mech (old school). The mech didn't have legs, just a tracked assembly from the waist down with two shoulder mounted cannons and instead of hands it had like gatling cannons. I've probably got the model somewhere but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called. A small scale tank could be used as the lower half of the Broadside. It'd probably be a pretty easy conversion too! Cut the Broadsides waist off. Remove the tanks turret. 4 pints of glue and some paper mache and viola! A pile of ASS!

You're thinking of the Guntank. That wouldn't be such a bad conversion, but you'd have to do some huge filing/cutting of the torso. That or massive amounts of green puttying, which I think would look better and is inevitable. It would also probably be a good idea to pin the torso into the tracked base. As long as you don't overload on it, 2-part epoxy is very strong as well as waterproof. So if you combine the epoxy and pinning that torso will never come off.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

My Broadsides have shoulder mounted smart missiles and arm mounted railguns. I think it looks a whole lot better, but then my ideas on mecha have beewn influenced by two decades of Battletech.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Normal Broadsides do look boring. Here's my take on a proper broadside, with a rifle type railcannon.

Jutami, that's brilliant!

It's probably worth pointing out that the thread was started two years ago, and the OP probably has his Broadsides by now. Which is a shame, because I was going to throw in the idea of gravitic stabiliser units attached to the guns, like a Tau equivalent of suspensors.

a while ago i picked up a reaper CAV model (specifcaly a viper warhawk) they look like battle tech mechs or epic scale titans. anyway the lower torso & legs look real stout & beefy i wish i had picked some up years ago when i built my broadsides, they would be perfect for them i think. i did buy it for the weapon arms for a devastator/long fang conversion.
