Whisper with advanced sensors, advanced clocking device.
Use AS for target lock, move into Kturn, put on stress token. Execute an attack with Whisper.
Can you now put on free focus due to completing Whispers attack?

How is Whisper getting the Target Lock? Don't you have to have it on your action bar to use Advanced Sensors for it?

My mistake. Use a barrel role with AS.

In that case I see nothing wrong. You're not using a focus action (or any action for that matter) to get the token so the stress shouldn't make a difference.

Yep, it works. Assigning a token is not the same as performing the action that grants you that token. Nor is spending a token, so there's no problem with using the focus token while stressed. Just note that your advanced cloaking device (which is mandatory on both unique pilots) gives you a free cloaking action, which you can NOT take while stressed. This makes a k-turn extremely dangerous since you will only have your base agility against any return fire and you will not have the unpredictability of a decloaking action next turn to get you out of trouble. IOW, you're very likely to lose your expensive ship if you k-turn.

Just an example to see how stress and free actions work

The answer is they don't. If you're stressed you can't perform actions, including free actions. Whisper's ability to get a focus token only works while stressed because it assigns a token and is not an action.

This is probably one of the main reasons why I like X-Wing as much as I do, the games vocabulary is just defined incredibly well.
