this squad is confused. if it drops, it's not armed to hurt anything. and it's likely got nobody
around to benefit from the I.D. and standard. i'd either not drop them, and keep them close
to troops, hidden, or give them 3 plasmaguns and drop the I.D. and standard.

There's nothing wrong with the above squad. Having drop troops is free and you do not HAVE to deep-strike in anyway. Having the DT doctrine gives you the ability to do so but doesn't mean you ave to deep-strike in.

As for the list, pretty solid in my humble opinion based on limited experience. But several points though...

4 flamers in the command squad seems a little overkill. Since you have to fire all of them at a single enemy unit unless that unit is a huge mob of orks or mutants, 4 seems really too much, but that's just me...

Also, I've always preferred the plasma gun in my vets than meltas. The added range and increased number of shots make them better IMO. Many times the vets scatter more than 6 inches away from their target, and in such instances I would much rather 2 str7 plas shots than a single str8 shot.

Also, many of your guys have bolters/bolt pistols. I personally find that it's worth it only if you have the spare points. In your list I'll rather drop all the 8 bolters/pistols and maybe a flamer from the command squad to add a veteran to the rough riders.

agreed, but my point is if this squad drops as is, it's not even a decent speedbump!

i usually dont drop the CS but put it in the list due to free. i use them for leadership only i have never lost a command squad due to i hide them and keep them strictly as a leadership bubble. to keep the points down.

the vet squads havent failed me yet either and are great no matter what side you drop in at. in 2000pt meatgrinder- they killed a hive tryant- droped into the middleof the brood and zapp instant giant hair dryer love. but then it did have 1plsma 2 melta- i like conslidating the same wep. better for the tank killers i use them for.

CS should not be shooting. It should be conferring leadership. HBMC will probably have much more to say about this than I.

Consider 3 plasma in one of the Vet. Squads.

Consider consolidating RR squads into one (yes, harder to hide, but more attacks on the charge).

Otherwise, pretty good!

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil
