Hey guys- im busy playing a game right now with a mate.
He didnt open webway portals on the 1st turn. 2nd turn rolled round.
Now we both know you cant bring them on now.
BUT, do you roll for the reserves in the 2nd turn? So in the 3rd and subsequent turns you have them waiting?
If yes- why? If no- why not?
Thanks.

The WWP is deployed in the shooting phase. If it's any time after the beginning of the turn, and it is, then he doesn't get reserves until turn 3. Reserve rolls are taken at the beginning of the turn, and moved on at the beginning of the turn. If there's no portal open at the beginning of the turn, then you can't get them.
Turn 3.

You didnt specify.. Is it Dark Eldar or Ulthwe Strike Force? Both armies use webway portals very differently. -Legacy40k

Sorry, my bad. It was Dark Eldar. Also- Chris thanks for that promt reply on Sat. but sadly it didnt answer my question. I know when they come on, but my oppoent felt that he could start rolling for the reserved from the 2nd turn (even tho the portal wasnt open) and then- when it was opened, they could start coming out having been "saved up".
Thoughts?

They are, in effect, "saved up" just like your opponent thought.
Last sentence of the description of the WWP says "if it [the portal] has not been opened on the turn they [the troops] become available to enter play, they must be held back until it is."
