I've spent the last few months working on a website for Wargaming Miniature collectors. That website is called Mini Legions.
The initial database is limited to just the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit, Strategy Battle Game miniatures range. This is because it's a personal favourite but also a manageable data sample. In the long run people will be able to add miniatures from all product lines and manufacturers.
In the long run the aim is to have a site where people can buy and sell miniatures from each other. List parts and accessories. Organise games and track their win/loss ratios. Group miniatures by Force or Army for display and generally support all aspects of the toy soldiers hobby.
If you have any problems, bugs, glitches, feedback or ideas then please please email us ( hq@minilegions.com) or equally you can tweet at us @minilegions or even write an update on the site as the Mini Legions HQ account will follow everyone.
Hope you enjoy the site and obviously bear in mind it's early days and will get exponentially more exciting as it grows.

Sounds like it could be a cool site. However, I've just tried to take a more detailed look and keep getting an error message when trying to click on some places. Some of the links are broken, I would assume.
Also, it sounds like the gallery is only viewable by users. Can I suggest you change this to make it accessible by everyone? On most forums and galleries, most views come from non-members browsing the site, so you could be putting people off by requiring a membership to see the minis. You could keep voting for members only if you wanted, but I think it'd help the site a lot if anyone can view the pictures.
This does have the potential to be a very good and useful site, though, so keep at it I look forward to seeing it develop.

Currently is it just a historical catalogue? The long term plan could be good though

I'd love to know where you were getting broken links. That's exactly the kind of thing we're trying to eliminate.
As for what is visible to who, it should all be viewable for non-signed-in users. I'll try and replicate the broken links you're finding but any help pinning them down would be great.
Thanks for the feedback!

It's currently just got LotR/Hobbit miniatures listed but it will expand to take in everything. Any particular requests?

Yeah I seem to be getting this message crop up =S
We're sorry, but something went wrong.
If you are the application owner check the logs for more information.
Not sure if this is because I'm not a member or something along those lines but as suggested above making open viewing would be a better option, also is this just a list of catalog numbers or are there images linked do items, I'd suggest thumbnails of images if you have them.
Nice idea though, like the concept

Ah, I see, it was the bit that said 'once signed up you can browse the database' that confused me. If it's available to all then that's great.
The bits I was looking at earlier that didn't work are working now so it looks to be ok. For the record, it was some Durin's Folk and Gondor stuff.

Yeah just figured one non-signed-in bug. Hard to replicate before people are using the site.
As for images. All the images are submitted by users. There are only 87 images up so far but as users submit their own painted models we should fill out the catalogue.

Yeah, that's the bit I like. Create an account, upload my collection (Under the correct cat#?) a place to show off some minis and a place for the collector to look view examples of finished (or mint) miniatures. I see it being an extremely useful resource for the LOTR community, painters and especially the collectors if/when the trading side things get's underway.
sadly I don't do much in the way of Lord of the Rings

We'll be expanding to other systems ASAP. We just need keen contributors to grow the database
Correct cat# is best. Not everything is up yet (the contents of some sets for instance) but it's getting there.

Looks very nice. I spent about 30 minutes or so on the site, even used the search function. I did not come across any broken links.
This could be a great portal for trading miniatures. Good work and keep us updated.

I'm loving it. It's like a combination between facebook for miniature painters and a catalog.
But....it's quite sparse right now. You'd better hope it picks up steam because if it's this bare when it leaves its infancy, it wouldn't be worth using.

Absolutely. I need people to upload their painted images. I'm working on making the add_to_collection bit easier today to speed things up.
