I can't imagine I'm the only one who dislikes the rolling to determine the rank of Imperial Knights.
What do you think would be a reasonable cost for Knights Apparent (-1 ws, bs and invul) and Seneschals (+1 ws, bs and invul)?

1400 points of EW/MW Italians (FoW)
2200 points of SoB and Inquisition (40K)
1000 points of orks (40K)
Just starting out with Ultramarines (30K)
Four 1000-2500 point forces for WHFB (RIP)
One orc team (Blood Bowl)

If you were to price change them on purpouse it would be about + or - 15 points for the change.

Note this would just be comparing similar upgrades, it isnt an actual representation of the fairness of points.

If you want a more balance point change it would probably be something more like:

knight apparent is 25 points cheaper than base cost

Knight Seneschal is 25 points more expensive than base cost.

The reason why is because the base model is so expensive that a 50 point swing is fair considering the survivability change between the 2.

Eihnlazer hit the nail on the head. But honestly, we need more ranks to make paying for ranked up/down knights worth it.

A Knight Seneschal is essentially the Knight Equivalent for a SM Tac Sergeant. I know Tac Seargents don't get any WS/BS but the Seneschal upgrade is to represent the experience the sergeant has over his squadmates. +1A/LD wouldn't add much to Knight, what with being vehicles and all. Another rank upward could be feasible if they got WS/BS 6 or had to choose between getting +1 WS or BS on top of the seneschal upgrade. And with such a low model count, a knight army would be really easy and fun to write homebrew fluff about. What if your particular Knight/his battlegroup has a real chain-bladed hard on for Tau or Necrons or tyranids?-- ten-point preferred enemy upgrades?

And if we are going the fluffy route, knights are never deployed where the guard or space marines don't already need some serious back up. So, perhaps your knight (s) are veterans of some terrible, drawn out campaign that shaped their character to some degree from that point on?
Writing rules for veterans of this or that campaign shouldn't be hard. --- Legacy rules for a list of campaigns that give special bonuses in special circumstances for 10-30 pts. That may actually make fielding non-allied knights worth it since upgrades would fill the 30-150 point gap between the knight army and the point limits you play at

Didn't epic have like five knight variants? What are the chances that Gee-dubs would release more of those? from the looks of the lancer, expanding the Imperial Knight codex is all on Forge World.

I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature.

Forgeworld has come up with another knight release, they just haven't published the rules yet.

Looks to have a sword of some type and a vulcan mega bolter.

Im guessing it will have the ability to reroll hits in close combat (because of the sword) and possibly 1 extra attack in melee like the lancer but not sure.

There is supposed to be one other variant that is a heavily armored version (armor 14/13/13, Ion shiled on all facings) but it has 2 ranged weapons instead of the D melee. Not sure when they plan on releasing that one.
