Hey everyone. A buddy of mine has gotten interested in Infinity, most notably Ariadna. So as a birthday present, some of us want to get him a big jump on the game by giving him a 300pt Caledonian Highlander Army list. We're going to fully paint and base it for him.
Now we're not familiar with Ariadna. The four of us typically play PanO, Yu Jing, Aleph, and Nomads. So we were hoping someone could help us out and let us know a good way to build up from the starter box. We're trying to keep this to a relative budget of about $150 US, give or take. No preference for particular units, but we'd like a link team of 5 in there, so probably means adding volunteers. Not required, but we'd really like him to see the robustness of the link team.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Here's the starter box for anyone not familiar with it's contents.

Either version of Uxia McNeill is a good choice, Scots Guard is a good choice for a Link Team(or camo'd guys) and here's the Missile Launcher, the HMG Mormaer is nasty, Volunteer HMG wouldn't hurt, Wulver Grenadiers, 2nd Irregular Cameronians Regular would not be bad...

Basically there are a lot of things you could add in for Caledonian Highlanders. It wouldn't hurt to kind of feel out what your friend likes modelwise and work from there.

I say the volunteers because theyre what comes in the started box. Like i said, we're aiming for a budget on the models.
So i was reallyhoping soneone could give me decent input on a list that starts with the starter box.
As for models he likes, the only model ive heard him be negative about ia one Scotts guard with shoulder pads outside a cloak.

Oh, see now that's a different story entirely.

A list like that would be relatively in line with what you're asking. Starter box plus 4 blisters, with the Wulver 9th left out.
You could get it to starter box plus 5 blisters if you get the new Mormaer AP HMG sculpt instead.
