The Void

The NYC Police Department has issued a statement expressing their concern regarding this “unfortunate” event and states that all citizens must comply with orders to submit to arrest peacefully so that accidental injuries can be avoided. -

Now this hasn't been substantiated in big news yet, but it's worth remembering Eric Garner's murder, and countless other NYPD (any many or LEAs) misconduct cases were in the blogs before Fox, CNN or MSNBC picked them up.

It seems like the real truth is that if you want to avoid accidental injuries, or quite possibly your "accidental" murder, don't live in the NYPD's jurisdiction.

Pick up the can citizen.

Jesus wept.

Female toplessness is lawful in NYC (even if not breastfeeding), so the cop was wrong from the very beginning. Luckily he's got a paid vacation suspension to think it over.

Edit: never mind. Guess the police aren't quite that bad. This time.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

The sad thing is that, given all the real cases of police abuse, that story was entirely plausible.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

very droll.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.
