Subject: Starting Malifaux, What do I need?

So I am just wondering, I have bought a Lynch starter box, Mr. Graves, The Depleted, the rule book and a fate deck (all V2). I also plan to buy some Beckoners to round out the group, but is there anything else I need to start this? Are there any more decks or anything I need to get? Like where do I get scheme and strategy cards? Or what do people use for scheme markers? I feel like I am missing a few things.
On a second note, whats the best way to find other Malifaux players/get people playing it in my area? None of the local game stores play the game, just magic and 40K. Any help is appreciated!

Welcome to the game!
You have all you need to get started, a complete crew, fate deck and presumably stat cards for everything. The faction/arsenal deck will give you a few more stat/upgrade cards, but they're not really needed unless you plan on getting some V1 models.
To get people playing, you could look at getting another small crew of either the same faction or another one you want to start, get it painted up and run some demo games. When you can get started for the cost of a box of Space Marines, it shouldn't be too hard to get some support!
For the markers, you could use coins, bases, stones, whatever really.

I find that buying an extra set of bases with a sheet of plastruct cobblestone of brickwork will work wonders for scheme markers. Just add scrolls, books, chests, body parts from your bits box or a couple of green stuff "soulstones" and you're done.
I even found those miniature Cthulhu for a quarter at my FLGS and they look very cute on the board.

Ok, sweet thats good to hear. I suppose I will be waiting a few months for the second crew as a couple of the ones I want were shown at Gencon but when they will actually be released... no idea. Also looked into some cobblestone markers and bases and found some really sweet stuff at Happy Seppuku models. I assume its similar stuff to plastruct.
I suppose I will need to go back to my demo mode then to spread the word of Malifaux. I enjoy demoing games but I get rather discouraged when they don't at least attract one or two people pretty fast (Also I am pretty new at most games I demo so I suppose I also struggle with that).

Malifaux is fast to pick up, so you could game against yourself for a game or two.
If you do that, though, try to get crews that interact well with each other. My first few games were Guild vs. Guild... a lot of special abilities were useless. (The worse part is, it's just because I was too much of a wuss to paint Kirai's crew)

I was chatting with someone the other day about "what you need to learn malifaux", and we came up with:
1 mini rulebook $15
2 faction decks of your choice $ 16
2 decks of cards $2
Paper and pencil and some quarters... let's say $5
a wet erase marker $2
This game really doesn't require "proxy before you play" since the models are mostly stellar and work together in at least some way, but it was neat brainstorming how we could play malifaux while camping or something.

I'd personally go with a starter each rather than faction decks, but I'm not a fan of proxying everything in a crew.

My only issue (and this is minor) with the crew boxes is that it railroads your tactics a bit and tends to have a model or two that probably won't see much use.
I completely agree about not proxying everything though. I got a few crew boxes for painting, but the deck is where you can start to work out what you want the team to do.
