Hi all,

I'm a warhammer fantasy player, but I'm really enjoying watching Warmachine Hordes batreps on youtube. I've done some research, and I know that I want to play a Horde army as I dislike robots (its why I don't play 40k) and enjoy the beasties. I was initially drawn to Trollbloods because I like the Mountain King model, but after reading some more, I've decided to roll with Skorne. From what I've read Skorne tends to be beast heavy which makes me quite happy. After researching the warlock choices, I think I've settled on Makeda3. I like how straight forward the playstyle appears to be, and I like the models in her unit. That said, I'm going to be skipping the battle box as Morghoul does not appeal to me.

So what are your opinions on a starter list? After my reading, I am thinking for sure that I will get the Molik Karn model and the Bronzeback. I like the look of Gatorman Posse so I'm thinking I may get them as well. I've heard that they can be run quite independent from warlock support.

What else should I grab? I'd like to be beast heavy, which is why I like the Posse as well. They may be a unit but they look beastie!

A unit of Paingiver Beast Handlers are a given in virtually every Skorne list - particularly beast heavy ones with a low Fury warlock - so I'd grab some of them. Likewise a Titan Gladiator will be in most every list you make, so he's another good investment. And if you're running gators, a Paingiver Task Master is almost an auto-include to juice them up.

On the 35 point list you're formulating, I'd probably swap the Bronzeback for a Gladiator - Bronzey is awesome but you've got Karn for your heaviest hitting, and Gladiator can help Karn get in there, and bring the pain himself too. Then max out the gators, add a task mater, add beast handlers, and with the last 5 points pick up a third beast. Krea for defense, Drake for lasers (I love me some drakes), Brute for defense / beating ... I'd probably say Brute or Krea, as the defense is nice and you'll use these in many of your lists to come.
