So I recently played a game at my local GW with a buddy, a warhammer veteran, of mine. He proposed that instead of the first player moving then shooting both players should move first then shooting would continue as normal. All turns after that go as normal movement then shooting.

I didn't think it would make much of a difference, but I think it works well for small games such as Kill Team or >1,000 Points. It lets Everyone's squads get into the fight quicker.

Thoughts?

This would completely negate the use of drop pods and would neuter alpha strike armies useless. I dont like that idea from a fluff standpoint too. Why should my guys wait with their shooting if the enemy is in range of their weapons.

This thread should be located in the proposed rules forum instead of you make da call.

Frankly it sounds like it would do the opposite. Someone still has to move their units first (probably the player that went first) then the other player can use his movement to negate his opponent's offense since he'll get to move before getting shot at so can duck for cover according to how his opponent moved. However since that was the second player's movement now he can't adjust to set up an offense either so his own shooting will be mediocre.

It just sounds like both players end up losing their first turn.

This is a good point, one I didn't really consider.
