Watching the series, we often see the heroes on board the 'star' starship take on numerous faceless npc badguy ships. Has anyone tried this in the game and how does it work out?

Was just watching the Enterprise take on Tholian ships in the series of the same name and wondered about these '1 ship vs many' potential scenarios such as:

Multiple D7s with generic captains vs a well equipped Enterprise A.

The defiant, with a full DS9 crew, takes on a swarm of dominion scarabs.

Janeway and co take the voyager into battle against the kazon nistrum.

How does a swarm of low level ships handle a fully decked out single hero-ship?

Unless it's a fully tooled up Tac Cube or Voyager it gets curb stomped.
Numbers beat hero's unlike the shows unless you really gimp the npc's and give them Romulan ships.

I played 2xGalors & 2Keldons against a tooled up Valdore and Drex and it was not pretty.

Also 3 klingon d7's v Refit enterprise gave a similar result, the sheer volume of fire out weighs the upgrades you can take.

The voyager and cube however have the abilty to potentially one shot a ship and swing the odds back in there favour, before the difference in firepower can beat through there formidable defences.

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

Just play the Kobayashi Maru scenario with different ships. We tried the Defiant vs Breen and Defiant vs Jem Hadar fighters. The Defiant won both matches, so its not impossible for a hero ship to beat a swarm. The Enterprise did loose against K'Tingas, but Kirk was not the Captain.
