Hey guys, within a few months, I will be leaving Texas and heading to California for school for the next few years. Knowing that I will be gone for awhile, I would like to bring my army with me. However, the bag I'm wanting to bring is exactly not a handbag as it's the 21in battle foam 1520 XL case which I plan to fit both my 40k and fantasy armies in. I'm already aware that this big case will not be allowed for carry on as i have previously gone to cali for a college music audition and struggled to carry on an alto saxophone so obviously I can't carry this case on with me. What do you guys do to transport large cases like mine around when you guys travel? Just to clarify which airline I will be using, it's American Airlines as I get benefits from the miles I have accumulated with them.

It will probably be easier (and potentially safer) to just have it shipped via USPS, FedEX etc. Build a cardboard box around it, two layers thick and send it to yourself. Insure it too.

Agreed. You're going to be in CA for years not days. FedEx, USPS, UPS not the airline.

Given airport luggage sorters belt and I mean really a really hard belt to separate luggage into different plane loads as they read the labels, the last thing I'd do is put assembled models in their hands...

Take it to a UPS store. Have it boxed and shipped by UPS to your college.
