Ahoj! According to my 1st printing CSM Codex, Aspiring Champions in Rubric'ed Squads cannot take Veteran Skills. Does the same apply to ICs and Chosen? If yes, where does it say so. In my Codex the ban on Veteran Skills is listed in the Paragraph labelled "Chaos Space Marine Units", which in its entirety (?) refers to units with the Rubric of Ahryman. I ask because in my area the practice is that the Mark of Tzeentch prohibits the wearer from taking Veteran skills. Yet I do not see this in the codex. 2nd/3rd printing change? FAQ (I don't see, but sometimes I'm blind)? Borys

If the ban is on "Chaos Space Marine Units", then nothing can take Veteran skills. It is Codex: Chaos Space Marines after all, so all units should fall under that description.

With the galaxy as large as it is the odds of the average guardsmen seeing and fighting a marine or MEQ are relatively slim. Unfortunately the guardsmen in your (and anyone else who plays IG's) army are the REALLY, REALLY LUCKY ones that fight marines ALL the time... |

In my 3rd printing, it's explained that any unit which is not Rubric is a Sorceror, and spends all their time studying Sorcery (so has no time to develop vet skills). Any unit which is Rubric, is just armour with a bunch of dust inside, so can't practice either.
The upshot is that, no model with any Mark of Tzeentch is allowed vet skills, sorry.

Agreed, though if you take a LaTD list, the mark of tzeench becomes altered (for champions of that list) so that they are allowed to take a vet skill. Cou could still field 6 Champions with a nice mutant-meatshield for instance...
