Well I've decided to start a small campaign so I can actually play some 40k. Here's the fluff for it and I'm not too good of a writer so go easy on me. Also any advice to about how to proceed with it based on the outcome of the games would be great. I'm not overly creative.
The star system designated X36 is of little strategic importance to the Imperium except for its only inhabited world Xandros. Xandros is a beautiful lush agri-world that has been inhabited by humans since the Age of Strife. Always loyal once reclaimed the citizens have recently taken up arms against the claiming they deserve better rights. At first thought to be a mere uprising to be quelled by the local PDF the High Lords of Terra left the planet to its own devices. Now the planet has become its own self-sustaining nation. It has now been ordered to be brought back into compliance by the high lords. After sending several regiments of Guardsmen from local systems who've made no return or communications it has been deemed a worthy task for the Tempered Souls space marines to investigate and reclaim the world. The Chapter Master Valkan of the Tempered Souls seen this as a small task to be accomplished as this world was not according to Imperial documents was not as well fortified as many others in surrounding sectors. He sent a reserve company of the chapter to deal with this problem. Upon getting in orbit of the planet the ships opened fire on the planet hoping to lower the morale of any would be defenders. After sufficient shelling the space marines made land fall in the ruins of the capital.
The city was in ruins and it was evident that many battles had already been fought here. The marines on the ground were tasked with setting up a communications relay to be able to send word to Valkan about the status of the planet. As they were unloading equipment and starting to transmit a terrible screech was let out. From the remains of the mighty structures traitors sprang forth armed to the teeth. Hundreds came forth and the apparent leaders of each separate group were giving orders to attack the relay. The marines took up positions to defend themselves.
And that's all I got right now. Just so you know it is CSM vs SM in this campaign.
