I am such a copy cat. I see Asherian Command's thread and I wanted one of myself. The difference here is that we will be talking concepts over games. Lets talk about tell Vs show Vs do. The idea is kind of simple. What you do in a game and how you do it is a part of the game as much as the visuals or the sound. It something that exists in games, but no other medium. Like a 6th sense or forth dimension.

So where dose this come in? Well everywhere, but for a simple and ,at the time of doing this, new example. Alien isolation. If you have played the game, you may have used the access turner. It's a rather immersive mini game because the movements you make on your controller match up with the kind of movements your hands are making on the device. It feels like your really tuning in a signal rather then playing a minigame.

Meanwhile think of a horrible minigame like bioshock 1. Your very clearly not hacking anything when you slide pieces of pipe around on a map. It feels more like a game then reality. (Or the games surreal version of reality)

So anyone have anything to add, or maybe you just want to tell me I am wrong. This is bigger then just mini games and controls, so don't get too hung up on that aspect.
