I know in 'modern 40k' blood angels are all about assault and getting in the other guy's face, but how are pre heresy blood angels handled? If I understand it right, the Blood Angels' assaulty-ness is the result of Sanguinius' romp with Ka' Banda, which explains how other chapters like the raven guard like to use assault marines but are pragmatic enough to realize it isn't always a good idea, where as blood angels have a near preponderance for assault infantry bordering on tactical deficit.

But how are pre heresy blood angels portrayed? Please excuse any violations of fluff I may have commited on your favorite chapter; I'm not as well read on the loyalist chapters/ legions as I am on the traitors/

I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature.

Pre Heresy BA are still very much assault oriented they actually had a rivalry with the World Eaters. They're just not as brutal up front butchery as legions like the WE or Space Wolves.

Though they where and still are known for assaults the Blood Angels didn't and still don't handle every situation with "let's just drop everyone in with jump packs". Even now the BA don't always field jump packs, every battle brother is trained and proficient in their use but if I remember right each company has no more assault squads than a normal chapter. But they always have their assault squads at full strength

During the book, The Red Angel, the Blood Ravens are depicted as being an assault oriented Legion, before the battle with Ka'Banda. So I think they have always had that going for them.

Also, awesome fluff behind your army. Nice work!

Did you read "Fear to Tread?" That's the best info I've gotten on pre-Heresy Blood Angels. No "Death Company" for sure back then, which is a change...but a definite risk of a Khorne-pleasing blood rage, at least on the part of the Legion. I don't think Sanguinius suffered from anything of the sort.

I'm eagerly awaiting a Forge World HH book that includes the Blood Angels to find out some of this stuff as well!
