Alright so I understand that there's alot of holes in my regiment and I could use some c&c on fixing alot of things that need to be changed. I'm starting my DKoK army and I wanted to write up some fluff on my own regiment. I had to come up with a hostile environment for the story or else it wouldn't make sense putting the DKoK in. So I did a radiated forge world that the DKoK was sent to to clear out orks that were still there. This story kind of ties into the whole Imperium doesn't use nuclear weapons because they suck thing and kind of takes place before there was an absolute no for them. After the events on my planet Pikonen the Imperium was like nuclear weapons no way yo.

Death Korps of Krieg 813th "Eviction Regiment"

Background
The Donivekt sector consisted of 2 planets. Pikonen, the largest planet of the 2 was a prosperous manufacturing planet that proved very useful to the Imperium by supplying billions of weapons and ammunition. Among these supplies were the manufacture of experimental nuclear weapons, although generally never used by the Imperium due to multiple reasons including cost, material supply and the "dirty" nature of these weapons the Imperium still kept its supply of them. Korshive I, the smaller of the two planets, also served as a forge world. Korshive I contained most of the stock of nuclear weapons manufactured by Pikonen. Korshive II, Korshive I's moon served as a forward operating base and operating post for the two planets.
The government on Pikonen somewhat corrupt, the governor, Governor Viktino did not invest much time into military defenses, he generally thought of the planet as a low priority target from foreign invaders, and relatively safe in its location.
Pikonen was a healthy planet, the main continent Ashiken housed many industrial urban cities. The geography of the land was mainly covered by hills and plains, a sizable mountain range lie east of the main continent.

The fall of Donivekt
A unusually smart and powerful ork warboss Brok Wazghak scouted out the planet for plundering, he was aware of the weapons it contained and plotted to reclaim them. Wazghak rounded up a sizable force of orks and invaded the planet. The invasion was swift and well coordinated for the average ork mob. Greenskins slaughtered the planets defenses with ease and within a matter of days made it to Pikonen's capitol, Kinnoven. In the last hours of the planet, Governer Viktino, well aware of Wazghaks intent ordered the stocks of nuclear arms on Pikonen, and Korshive I, to be simultaneously detonated. The blasts effectively destroyed the planets ecosystem and had no pronounced survivors except those who were able to escape off of Korshive II in the moments of the invasion. The sector was pronounced dead by Imperium command.

Threats Arising
There were survivors from the nuclear explosions of Pikonen and Korshive I, Wazghak was able to survive the blast and was able to establish a operating base on the pronounced lifeless planet. Little was known about how he survived the last ditch effort blasts. But it was determined that most likely Wazghak was already setting up a base deep in the planets mountain system, used for mining and clearing resources that would be manufactured into military arms.
Wazghak's forward base on the ruined planet presented a high priority threat to the nearby planet systems. The Imperium command also considered that there were potentially friendly survivors of the blasts in similar spots during the explosions. It was also considered that life was more sustainable on Pikonen because there were significantly less nuclear warheads on it, Korshive I on the other hand which held the stock of them, was completely obliterated.
The result was to send the Death Korps of Krieg 805th Mechanized Regiment, 810th Siege regiment and 811th and 812th infantry regiments to Pikonen to eliminate ork presence and liberate any remaining survivors.

Operation Homecoming
Ork resistance was expected to be heavy and casualties costly, the 805th mechanized unit landed just outside Donvikt, a smaller city located south of Kinnoven which established a secure operating base for the 810th 811th and 812th to land three days later. The 810th 811th and 812th landed and set up a threshold successfully without many casualties. Local groups of orks were wiped with ease, operation homecoming was surprisingly successful due to the lack of enemy resistance and low casualties. The easy landings generated a kind of odd doubt that the ork warboss Wazghak wasn't actually still there.

The Battle of Mettle Hill
Colonel Urnich Mettle, in charge of the Death Korps 805th Mechanised regiment seeked to quickly finish the mission he was given, advancing the 805th forward alone into the vast destroyed rural plains and hills north of Donvikt. What Mettle didn't know was that Wazghak was well aware of his presence. Wazghak's kommando scouts reported their advancing position, and Wazghak setup a devious ambush just over what would now be called Mettle hill. Mettle's forward scouts failed to report any presence of threats nearby, the whole 805th regiment rolled forward with ease.
Early in the morning of the battle at mettle hill, just as the 805th advanced over the top of the hill without a clue of the enemy, and out from the surrounding foothills and encampments Wazghaks green wall charged the regiment. The numbers were roughly 3 to 1, Wazghak carefully sure to bring ample anti armour weaponry to counter the mechanized approach. The battle was bloody and Mettle's men fought well. The fearless Death Korps did not run from their enemy and stood their ground, due to the sheer numbers of the green tide, the regiment was defeated in battle.
The most notable part in the Battle at Mettle Hill was during the last moments as the remaining groups of infantry grouped together including Colonel Mettle and his long friend and assistant Captian Drakus Kowle. Mettle ordered Kowle to retreat and report of the defeat of the 805th, well aware that his death was soon to come. After Kowle left, Mettle grouped together the last remaining men, a band of about 430 guardsmen. Wazghak charged his green wall twords Mettle and his men, Mettle seeing their imminent death draw near took off his rebreather and gave Mettles Last Speech. followed by leading a glorious final charge to the advancing ork army. Mettle was killed in combat by Wazghak, a vicious victory for the warboss.

The Battle of Kowle
Now General Kowle, assuming command over the 810th, 811th and 812th Death Korps regiments led his army twards the capitol, Kinnoven. Kowle set up his siege line just outside kinnoven, where he fought Wazghaks troops, the battle of Kowle lasted 2 years long, during the first bloody year Wazghak charged the siege and infantry regiments, killing a great deal of guardsmen. But was forced to retreat into Kinnoven from he overwhelming amount of artillery blasts. The second year was tedious, the 810th siege regiment shelled the city non stop through the days and night. There was little to no sign of ork operations outside the city, Wazghak hid his small army deep inside the citys walls, where he was safe from the bombardments. After a year of shelling the city, Kowle was disappointed in the stalemate, angered of Wazghaks cowardliness and seeked vengeance for Mettle. The infantry regiments took heavy casualties in the two years, both under half supply of men left. The 811th and 812th combined to join the 813th infantry regiment. Their job was to storm the city and remove the last of the Ork threat on the planet. This last stage of the Pikonen War was named "Operation Eviction"

"Operation Eviction"
Operation eviction lasted short of a year in the once thriving streets of Kinnoven. The 813th had the numbers to their advantage but Wazghaks ferocious urban guerrilla tactics made progression bloody and grinding. The first half year of Operation Eviction was brutal and tedious, firefights among the streets between well dug in enemy stalled advancement.
The long year Wazghak hid in the city gave him and his mob an ample time training in the ruined urban environment. They became masters of stealth, their eyes were now motion detectors among the runs and rubble, their ears listening for the smallest movements in the environment. Most of them painted their green skin grey, to match the ruined concrete and ash that covered the whole city. They were good at finding hiding spots, dark corners to ambush a forward guard patrol. They moved stealthily, often preforming night raids on guardsmen's camps.
The orks were tricky, scouting and patrolling were a must have for Kowle to make any sense of positioning. Soldiers sometimes were reluctant to do this, often calling it "Death duty" for the high rates of ambush and killings. Survivors would return to their platoons with stories of slaughter, morale was dropping fast.
Kowle saw morale was low, he planned to revise tactics and change the tide of battle. Tanks were at a very limited supply, he used them almost to tactical perfection, charging men down the streets lobbing grenades through windows, flushing out any resistance. The tanks would lay waste to the skeletons of buildings, collapsing them and anyone in them in huge cannon blasts. Kowle used these assault tactics well and saw great results. Wazghak was now on the run again, he could not hold the line against the waves of lasgun fire and grenades thrown at his boyz.
Months were spent tailing Wazghaks retreat, morale was back at its height once the tide of battle was changed in imperial favor. Wazghak saw significant losses in troop supply, slowly being withered down day after day of the guardsmen that hunted them down.
Wazghak was running out of supply, and space to run. In the last weeks of the war, Wazghak found himself cornered by imperial advancement and flanks. He grouped together every last ork and fortified buildings and streets. Kowle took this fight rather slow, he instructed his men to wait them out, long drawn days of crossfire between buildings in the streets wore Wazghaks orks down. And after about a week he stormed his men on their final positions, eliminating the last of them. Kowle struck Wazghak down himself during the battle, shooting Wazghak two time in the head and stabbing him in the heart.

Aftermath
The liberation of hostile forces on Pikonen took around 3 years and costed thousands of lives to regain control of the planet. The 813th formed after the battle of Kowle from the 811th and 812th infantry regiments were given the nickname, the 813th "Evitction Regiment" after operation Eviction and their role in removing the ork threat. They bear the insignia of a roaring Grizzly Bear, a symbol of strength and courage. Pikonen was a wake up sign for the imperium to stop all production of nuclear arms, once again deeming them obsolete for the Imperiums use.

“Games Workshop has had a really good year.
If your measure of 'good' is the current financial year's numbers, you may not agree. But if your measure is
the long-term survivability of a great cash generating business that still has a lot of potential growth, then you
will agree.”
