Hey everyone!

probably just being a bit dense or missed something obvious but just wanting to get my head fully wrapped round the force creation process for campaign play. Where I am getting myself confused is with mercs.

1.) when calculating force value, is it just the value of models and equipment, or do you count unspent/Hoarded dosh in the credpool?

2.) Do I have to be the "underdog" to take mercs? For example, if I have the requisite creds on hand, can I hire a merc just because I want to for the coming game, or is it a requirement to be on the wrong side of a force value disparity?

3.) My main reason for asking all this is I am mainly trying to work out how quickly I can make use of the justice depts. ability to permanently second "mercs" to the force. could I, for example, (with reference to the above) include a cadet in my very first game even if I wasn't the lower value force with a view to taking him on full time?

Sorry if I have missed something obvious regarding this - thanks in advance!

I can't answer your question but I did want to thank you. I had no clue there even was a Judge Dredd miniatures game. Now I must buy it.

We've always just included the value of all the models and their equipment, ignoring unspent cash. You don't have to be the underdog to get mercenaries, the underdog can get some for "free" to make his force value equal. Just remember to use the Justice Department abilitiy you have to hire the mercenary, use them and have them survive, then pay for them again. It's a risky process that other players can mess with. On the plus side you want a Texas Judge or a Cal Hab Judge pronto. :-P
