Hey All,

Yeah, GW has driven me nuts lately so I pretty much dumped all that and moved over to this FF game. I have been reading over the day today since I kind of went nuts today and bought a lot of ships... and now am not sure that I am doing it right.... anyway, I bought the following ships.

Tie Fighter x3 (Starter set +1)
Tie Advanced
Tie Defender
Imperial Aces (2 Interceptors)

X-Wing (Starter Set)

When I was finally getting down to putting my squadron together I realized that I may have made a mistake buying the Advanced AND the Defender as they seemingly would fill the same roll. The Intercepters are nice for a different force maybe. I feel like I should buy another Tie/IN or 2.. but not sure. Is it typical to run a tough ship (the Defender / Advanced) and then just swarm smaller ships? I'm sure I'll figure it out, just looking for tips on Empire.

Also, since I want to get my wife into playing the Rebel side, what other ships should I pick up for the Rebel side? I've been reading that A-Wings are pretty... meh, and that I should stock up on X-Wings and B-Wings for her. Would another X-Wing and maybe a B-Wing and Y-Wing be pretty balanced against what I've got? I don't want one side to dominate the other. I also considered getting the Rebel Aces and an extra X-Wing for the rebel side... Something else I have noticed... wow, little money seems to go a long way when you start upgrading. I only spent $100 and am realizing that I have more then I can fit in a 100 pt list. Awesome. So far I haven't played a single game but love all of the little tokens, and I must admit that I am definitely liking the simple rules and maneuvers.

I would recommend picking up another Starter Set.
You'll get another set of dice and more Tie Fighters and another X-Wing.

A-Wings are more effective now that Rebel Aces is out.

In the end, you're probably going to want at least one of everything as everything comes with upgrades that you can use with different ships. For example, Heavy Laser Cannons are amazing with B-Wings but those cards come with the Slave 1 or Lambda shuttle expansions.

If you don't want to go crazy buying everything at once, have her pick out some ships that look interesting too her and play around with that. What's her play style like? Does she want a lot of cheap ships to swarm you with? Big ships that can take a beating?

Keep in mind that a third faction is on its way as well, which may influence you in buying ships that will be found in multiple factions (ie. Headhunter, Slave 1, Y-Wing).
