Eye of Terror

The Tyranid Maleceptor and Toxicrene models were recently released, and they came with rules that you didn't have to pay for as part of a supplement.

Anyone but me notice this? I think this is the first time in about 3 years that GW released new models where you did not need to buy an additional book to get the rules. Wondering if this represents a change in strategy or if they just did not have enough fluff to justify a supplement.

Yes, it is a good thing, to release rules out of sequence.
If only they posted it on their web-store, so you get to look at the rules before buying. I suppose they're in the White Dwarf of the time, but do they well it in a non-Apple-only format?

I heard that the eagle cannon and other fortifications came with rules, but I didn't see them myself.

Most of the new Nurgle fantasy models also come with rules in the box. All except the character who is in a blister I believe.

Its a good move.

Downside is that there's like four ways/sources for getting rules now. I'm all for free gak, don't get me wrong, and this is a good move on GW's behalf, but I think the whole rules portion of their game could use some streamlining in terms of sources.

Let's see if it continues.

Rules in the box was an idea I put forwards a year or so ago and I am glad to see GW take it up.

I agree there certainly could be some streamlining, and the cost of codexes is still high.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
