Subject: 1500pts - Video Batrep - Imperial Guard vs Chaos Space Marines - HIGHLANDER
Good game, had some pretty awesome moments, especially where friendly fire is concerned . We're still doin highlander format, we'll likely have a couple more highlander batreps posted as we close in on our highlander tournament in mid december.
Highlander seems to go pretty easy on guard, but it's nice to see a varied list without a billiion wyverns/vendettas/manticores . Pask did ok, I feel like he's a bit expensive but he put out a lot of shots, as is his job. He also stood up pretty well to an assault by my daemon prince. My mutilator still keeps on impressing me, the little dude is like a small, slower dreadnought that can deep strike. Lutnit's outflank was text book and easily took me off an objective, outflank is always nice. We both had master of ambush for our warlord trait, which made deployment quite fun, lutnit's a genius, he took 3 ratlngs as a throwaway to counter my infiltrators and it worked really really well.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

That Manticore shot. At least the DP failed its 2+, or it would have been a complete disaster.
The thing I find with the mutilator, is that an obliterator would do the same job, only so much better. I guess with the mutilator is not such a high priority target and with your Highlander format you can't just spam obliterators.
Nice battlereport though. They are so much nicer to watch when both sides are fully painted to a good tabletop standard.

I stopped playing now for the past several months. However, when I was playing 6th and 7th edition, a 1500 point Highlander format was, by far, my favorite format. Games were much tighter and I got to use and face off against things I didn't get to see much. Very fun games. Thanks for sharing and hope you all enjoy the format as much as I did.
I've noted this in your past video battle reports, but I really enjoy the way you all handle terrain. With the definitive lack of rules for terrain in 7th, I think your method makes for a more enjoyable experience.
Thanks for sharing.
No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Yeah basically it owes its success to infiltrating and then being mostly ignored for juicier targets.

Thanks mang, we do our best to play painted only.

I really like it, we're doin it a bit different, no allies or anything but you can take a duplicate troop without taking one of everything, makes it a bit easier on some armies. But ya, totally agree it's my favourite flavour of 40k yet.

Terrain is almost a culture thing, it's weird. I just find the game is much better tactically when you play with less abstraction in terms of path. More things being impassable really helps, Terrain rules are one of the biggest factors to enjoyment of the game and they've been brushed under the rug since 5th ed, really sad.

Thanks mang, I haven't been having much luck with them, but I chalk that up to them looking so scary that my enemies first though it is "well those just need to die" I guess I need to convert up a count as maulerfiend using some big nid gribbly.

It's because you don't make the appropriate sound effects when using them. You're supposed to laugh "hurhurhurhurhur" when sending them against anything

if I was to offer any constructive criticism, try not to shake the camera so much and you shouldn't really proxy a demon prince with a wraithknight if you are making a battle report
