Can't believe how addictive Warhammer is. I've been 'clean' for a few years (about 4? Not sure.. 5th edition was brand new when my group disbanded) and I find myself getting dragged back into the hobby. I can't believe it's in its 7th edition, so speak, er write slowly because I'm not used to the new jargon. Anyhow, I'm looking at sprucing up my current armies which are Tau, Marines (I had Blood Angel models, I would use them as Blood Angels, but initially I played just as vanilla Marines), Nids.

A little about me.. I was mostly a mech Tau player during 4th edition but when 5th came out I preferred the 'ninja tau' approach. My first army was Blood Angels, which I was ok at, but I won more games with my Tau. However, due to Battle of Maccrage I do have some Tyranid models and I know that I'm getting the Shield of Baal set so I'll be getting some more. Also my Bro gave me all his Nid models (4th edition Battleforce), so I'll have a decent sized Nid force now as well. I also have some necron models here and there but they're probably just about 800 points worth, so it's barely worth mentioning.

List of ?s..

1. Why haven't the BA got a new codex? WHY??! Whatever. Although, I don't know where I put it. It's kinda annoying that the only codex that is still useful is the one I lost/misplaced.
2. Is there anything that I should be aware of as a Tau/Marine player that may affect a mobile list? I loved how fast BA vehicles move, although I have considered utilizing drop pods, but never got around to it.
3. Have nids changed much since 4th/5th?
4. Are there any units that would be useful for any of my lists that are new?
5. Would allying BA with Mech/Ninja Tau be effective?
6. I'm thinking about doing a Genestealer heavy list, since they can infiltrate/outflank backed up with monstrous creatures. Good idea or not? I don't know much about nids, so I'll take any advice.
7. Are riptides worth it? Found out that Broadsides are just S 8, , so I'm glad I didn't buy 9 like I was planning too (just to experiment with).

Just as an FYI I have the following models:

nids: 4th edition nid battleforce (don't remember off the top of my head) + Battle of Maccrage. Also I'm getting that BA/Nid box so everything in there as well.

6 x Tactical Squads, 3 x 5 man assault squads, 2 x shooty terminator squads, 2 x furioso dreadnaughts, 1 shooty dread, termi librarian, chaplain, chaplain with jetpack, captain with jetpack, Dante, Sanguinary priest (if that's what it's called) with jetpack, 5 x death company without jetpacks, 1 x normal librarian, 1 x 5 man devestator squad, 1 x rhino, 1 x predator, 1 x baal predator (I wanted 3, but I focused more on Tau), 5 x sternguard vets.

Then I fell in love with the Tau before I could flesh out my marines to the list I actually wanted. Mostly played the Marines at 500 or 750 point level.

1 x plastic converted pathfinder squad (upper body from tank captain + Fire Warrior legs + pulse carbins and a thing I put on top), 1 x metal pathfinder squad (2 x with railgun), 4 x multitracker drones, 15 x stealthsuits (3 with fusion blaster), 6 x crisis suits (swappable weapon options), 1 x Tau commander, 1 x ethrereal, 2 x fire warrior squads, 60 kroot, 1 x krootox that was worthless because it couldn't infiltrate, 4 x kroot hounds, 2 x kroot shapers (1 metal, 1 converted), 4 x devilfish, 1 x hammerhead, 3 x skyrays/hammerheads (depending on which top I used) with Smart Missiles, ~14 gun drones, 1 honor Fire Warrior squad (accompanied Ethereal, never used them though), 4 x shield drones, and 20 x converted Gue'vesa (IG).

Oh and 1 Battleforce of Necrons (4th).

So any help would be great, especially with the whole alliance thing/mini appocalypse stuff..

Hey, welcome to Dakka! I would try narrowing down some of your questions and posting them to the appropriate 40k subforums.

Welcome back!

There is plenty of (often entirely justified) hate for GWs business practices, but I concur, I think 7th is the best thing that ever happened to 40k.

The thing with the cards, its actually now a game. I have won plenty of matches against vastly superior Eldar and Necron armies despite being decimated thanks to a fine blend of luck and skill.

Its definitely now an entertaining and addictive game, I am enjoying it more than I have in years.

Anyway, welcome back!

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

I agree the new rulebook is the best incarnation of 40 k yet. It's fun and can be simplified if need be. Just read it today.

And sorry about all the questions, I got them all answered now, thanks to this awesome forum. Just realized that I should've asked these questions in a different section of the forum or better yet looked them up myself.

Anyhow I guess this is supposed to be an intro about me, so I've lived in Paraguay for a few years doing humanitarian work. I picked up a bit of Guarani, but not much, and learned to speak Spanish and Portuguese (I was mostly by the border with Brazil). I also love story telling/writing. What I love most about warhammer is the "fluff". Currently I'm working on a fan fiction based off a warhammerfied version of south america. Also, I'm american and currently reside in my birth state of New Mexico (its between Texas and Arizona). Also, I'm half Latino, am married with no children and working on getting my degree.

Ate mais,

Hey!! Welcome back to Dakka Dakka!!

I think it's fine to have questions in the introduction, then as they are answered we can get you pointed off to the correct threads.

I'll agree, the game has changed, I'm enjoying catching up with the new rules, getting ready to play my first games here soon since the older editions.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of the women.
