Interesting game at the time. Actually shared some similarties with Adeptus Titanicus in terms of car design (hard points, linked weapons, etc), and was a cool little game.
While I don't think GW will ever re-release it, I could see a very successful game coming out of another company with similar ideas. One of the most interesting features was the way you "drove". The road was varying pieces that were laid down in random order, representing twists, turns, hairpins, etc. As you moved down the road, you took pieces off the end and added them to the front. Pretty cool.

The coolest thing about Dark Future was converting Matchbox cars into Death Race/Road Warrior/Speed Racer/Batmobile-from-Hell doom buggies. I never really played the game all that much, but I made a small fleet of Dark Future cars.

...and then it was eventually reurrected as Gorkamorka, the single easiest way to build an Ork army at the time! Okay the 'rolling road' didn't exist, but Gorkamorka was Mad Max with Orks and 40k-ish rules. Great fun, too.

Actually, I think there was a gorkamorka scenario with sort of a rolling road.. you moved all terrain in one direction every turn, recycling stuff that went off the board. I dont remember any details, or even if it was official or a white dwarf thing, but I do remember playing it at a store somewhere with my grenade-chucking mork bikers

No, that was an actual scenario with the moving road. Racing each other through the (junk) canyon.

Dark Future was ace, my friend and I used to love it as we were both car nuts (still are) were 13 at the time and had recently watched Mad Max, so cars, guns and violence worked well for our teenage brains. We got so into it we made our own rules for leaving the vehicles, hijacking tankers, wheel spikes and androids.

My friend, Francis Greenaway of the U.K., has created a few resources for Dark Future.

I visited New York City in August last year for a business trip. The Compleat Strategist in Manhattan had several shrinkwrapped copies of the White Line Fever Expansion for Dark Future. The store probably still has a few in stock.

Hot Wheels has released several Batmobile models in the past year including the 2005 Tumbler and the 1989 Batmobile. You can drive your old car on Route 666 again.
