I have a problem, I like to get into skirmish games that have awesome looking minis and no one plays in my area.

I have just about every model for Helldorado and I have only ever played a handful of games. In fact I play perhaps the same group of people at Gencon every other year. Beyond that the figs stay in my cabinet. To be honeslt after the experience I had this past Gencon, I might never play again.

The next game is Anima tactics. A few people play it around me, but I get in a game perhaps every 6 months.

I could list the games I have bought into, but we would be here for a while.

Well, you either buy games strategically, or you accept that you won't get many games in... I would love to try Infinity or Warzone Resurrection, but I would have trouble roping in even one other person. Since my group is very 40k-heavy I started a Necromunda campaign instead, and it's a blast with nearly 10 gangs involved. What you could do with Helldorado is invite people to play with your minis at every opportunity, and although they may not buy their own minis, you would at least get a few games in. Who knows, if you are persistent enough someone might eventually buy something.

If you have all the models to field multiple forces, maybe the thing to do is bring both your army and an opposing force. (Or bring two forces, and let the opposing player choose - I used to do that for Mordheim.)

A method that my girlfriend and I have used is to have a game at our place - and provide food. (We had a series of in character steampunk dinners for Airship Pirates. It took a while for the players to realize that the characters that were holding the dinners were the villains.)

Send out invitations like it was a party - get people to try the game, knowing that they will be fed, and gather enough folks to make an evening of it.

The reason I bought rules and became a real wargamer was because I wanted a properly thought out structure to govern the action instead of just making things up as I went along.

I got some Hell Dorado minis because I liked them, and my local game store sells them. However, it's just not very popular and I've never really gotten into the game itself.

Anima, I tried playing. However, the official sites seem to be terrible at actually showing off how the minis themselves actually look. Most of the units are showcased as interesting-looking concept art with no preview of the mini to be found anywhere. It also doesn't help that the minis almost never look as nice as their corresponding illustrations and the sculpts are often in dramatically different poses.

The most recent Anima model I bought was Cordelia because I thought the idea of a giant sniper-rifle lady in a ball-gown was amusing. When I got the model, it had sculpted underwear. That's when I realized this game really wasn't for me.

Usually, for more niche games, I tend to have more than one faction. Play with friends and maybe they'll get into it. Oftentimes, they'll keep using your stuff, but at least you're playing. Then maybe some folks will come by and ask what you're playing. Just don't tell them your models have sculpted lingerie else you my repel some people regardless of the quality of the game.
