I've recently picked up a lot of Uruk-Hai models from ebay and I'm looking to get some of the WOTR bases in order to use them for some element based games.
I know GW don't produce these any more, does anyone else do anything similar?

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

There are a few cheap options made out of lasercut mdf kicking around (sorry i can't be more specific) but tbh i tend to use pieces of card cut to shape and decorated nicely which i then blu-tac my models onto. They're more effort than buying them but much cheaper and can look just as effective.

Litko War of the Ring bases

These are some very nice plywood bases, which are custom made, yet very affordable (compared to the GW prices, and even more affordable if you buy them in bulk).

Of course with the prices of the GW minis, I can see why people want to put their figures to multiple uses.

But I have my LotR figures for mass combat based specifically as elements, with 80mm frontages, rather than the 110mm frontages of the WotR.... I just think the DBx standard looks better.

But unless you happened upon some poor hapless lad selling his LotR minis for some beans (obviously looking to grow a beanstalk), then you probably can't afford to do this.

Pity they didn't support WotR better.... They could be doing a LOT better as a miniatures company actually selling more miniatures, and WotR was the way to do that.
