I was reading the Draigo -> Fantasy correlation thread, and was about to reply with some thoughts of my own but, I figured it was a separate enough topic to make a new thread:
So I recall awhile back, I wrote a thread (on a different forum) about a possible connection with both
40k and fantasy timelines:
The 'age of strife' in
40k (warp storms, birth of slaanesh, apocalypse kinda stuff over the entire galaxy- chaos comes to play) lasted 5-7 Millenia and 'The Fall' (Warp Gateways collapsing, chaos comes to play) in Fantasy lasted approx 5 millennia.
So what can we glean from this info as possible connections between the two universes?
1. Each has about the same chunk of time.
2. Both events featured an overbleed of psychic energy within each realm, causing manifestations of the warp to rain on everyone's parade.
One extra thing to throw in, is that by the time each event calmed down, that in 30k, the Emperors children (the Primarchs) were taken by chaos and dispersed over the galaxy, each landing on worlds in capsules. Then in fantasy, again after things subsided, there is a comet seen in the sky (capsule?) and Sigmar is 'born'. Could Sigmar be a primarch??
I know there are a few inconsistencies with Sigmar being a primarch - primarily from Black Library writers - but when ignoring them, it does seem like a fun theory, at least in my mind. After all, I recall reading something that indicated that Sigmar single handedly destroyed an Orc army (before
BL canon).... Sounds primarch'ish to me.
Whenever I float this idea around, I get some heat from the Fantasy fandom - bent on asserting that there is a barrier between universes because some
GW employee said so. So please understand, for those who are ready to preach the word from the supposed
GW prophet.... He's one dude who could have been expressing opinion - just like me
Thoughts?
