Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Shas'el Commander 107pts
Plasma rifle, missile pod, target array, multitracker, stim injector.
Deployed seperately for independant Bs5 firepower. Relying on his IC status to avoid fire. Stim adds greatly to his survival for little cost.

Crisis team 186pts
Three Fireknife suits.
No target array because I intend to markerlight these teams target.

Crisis Team 119pts
Team leader: Flamer, TL fusion blaster, drone controller, two gun drones.
Crisis suit: Flamer, TL fusion blaster.
Anti horde/vehicle team, suicide if needed.

Stealth team 120pts
Four stealthsuits.
Cheap efficient stealth team

Two Fire Warrior teams @140pts each
Twelve Fire warriors with pulse rifles, shas'ui and markerlight.
Markerlights used to support other Fire Warrior firepower.

Kroot 106pts
Ten kroot and six hounds.
Hounds rock, they are fast enough to give kroot good close combat capability.

Pathfinder team 111pts + 85pts for transport
Eight Pathfinders, shas'ui and bonding knife. Devilfish with decoy launchers.
Rely on this unit to make my Fireknife & Broadside firepower stick.

Two Drone Squadrons @96pts
Eight drones each.
My infantry of choice, as they can keep up with the battlesuits.

Broadside Team 195pts
Two Broadside suits with target array, team leader with drone controller and two shield drones.
No multitracker, use either anti vehicle or anti horde firepower in a turn.

I think it looks like a good list for friendly games, has lots of different units so you get to try different stuff out.

I'm not sure I'd ever really put Flamers on a Crisis suit, but if there's three, they might be able to clear out whole squads of Gaunts, Guards, etc.

I think it's pretty much a no brainer to give your team leaders Targetting Arrays. You've done a good job sizing your squads so you don't need Bonding too bad, but I think it's still worth the 5 points to keep one suit on the table, even if he's Last Man Standing.

I don't like the ant-horde Deep-Strike Suits - they are too limited, and too dependent on scatter if they do D-S. Missile pods would work much better.

Why, having spend a fortune on markerlights, have you given the broadsides tragetting arrays?

Looks good.

I'd give the Broadsides ASS instead of TA, the ability to move is priceless.

I'm also no fan of Crisis that rely on DS, its simply too much of a risk. If you land out of range you're a sitting duck.

Your FW Shas'ui has a ML, but who's he marking for ? He doesn't have a TL, so any unit he marks for will have to target the same unit as the rest of his team. For more flexibility give him a TL.

A lot of your units seem to be geared towards making the most use out of MLs, but your pathfinders aren't going to survive long enough to give this support.

But otherwise, it looks good. I like the Kroot unit, very good punch in CC.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

This is experimental stage, comments welcome.

Phryxis
- Yes I do want to take as varied an army as possible, more fun that way. The flamer/fusion blaster suit is an old favourite. The old loadout had one fusion blaster, one suit had a target lock and the other two drones. They were deployed as flank attackers rather than deepstrike and had a bit of flexibility. I called the old loadout Stormlord (aka Orlanth).
- I am an old bonding fan, but with careful team size its not really necessary. I still conside bonding for large ire Warrior teams (trying without for now) and definately for Pathfinders.

Torgoch
- Replace what with missile pods, the flamers of fusion blasters? I think I have enough missile pods but could do with the close in weaponry.
- If I do want to DS anything remember I (may) have the bonus of the Pathfinder Devilfish and expendable gun drone squadrons.
- As for the target array Broadsides, simply because all the Pathfinder markerlights will be at one unit, the target for the Fireknife team. The Fire warrior markerlights will be for chaining fire onto the next team to fire massed anti infantry firepower. Ideally (assuming they all hit) the first markerlight boosts the second teams shooting and the second markerlight boosts the Stealth teams shooting. All in all I will need that many pulse shots to take out MEQ. So the broadsides are all on their lonesome. In all honesty two twin linked Bs4 railguns should smack a tank. Broadsides are not really designed for taking out heavy infantry and 8 Bs4 indirect fire SMS shots is good anti horde.
- Yes looking at it I am paying a lot of points for markerlights I am considering:
a) Takeing two Fireknife Tarocha teams. This will neatly use up the average 4 markerlight hits a Pathfinder team will generate. that is a lot of nasty 2+ shots enough to waste a tough target each turn.
b) Account for the fact that I might not have eight Pathfinders for long, and some turns I will only get two or so hits anyway. Enough to support the currecnt fire volume.
c) Give target locks to the Fire Warrior Shas'ui. So they can spot for other teams as needed, it will cost 10pts but that way I can spot for the Broadsides and without wasting squad firepower.
d) Dropping the markerlights on the Fire Warriors, though the Shas'ui cost is still worth it for Ld8. I will then need to target lock the Pathfinder shas'ui for a bit of flexibility.

Mephet'ran
- I really dont like ASS. Yes they can move and fire, but slow and Purposeful is hardly moving. In fact there is no guarantee you will get any decent move distance.
- I agree with the target locks, see above. But the markerlights are primarily to support other Fire Warrior, and similar firepower.
- We will have to agree to disagree over Pathfinder survivability. I intend to give them first pick of available cover, there will be Styealths to try and see, gun drone squadrons are good targets because of their mobility and of course Broadsides. Furthermore I bonded the Pathfinders and havent overtaxed than to allow for a reduction in the number of outbound shots. they can lose half their number and still on avarage cause enough markerlight hits to make the Fireknife hit on 2+.
- I have always been a fan of Kroot Hounds, and took them even when they cost me a oprecious FA slot. Now they are troops, and very good troops too. Ok, they dont rend but are otherwise fairly similar to genestealers at a fraction of the price. Not bad for Tau list troops.
