This list is just a 2000 point mech tau list I've been working around with. It is also going to be fighting Mahu's word bearers (see his thread).

Total: 1972 (28 points to spend on what?)

That's pretty much the standard cookie-cutter mech tau standby list for 2k, I don't see you having any unusual problems with it while fighting MEQs of any flavor.

Only suggestion I have is more a matter of preference.

May be more interesting and possibly more effective if you switch one squad of Firewarriors over to being Pathfinders.
Lets them deploy last, always deploy, enhance any other squad (need more fireknives, there ya go, need more stealth or firewarriors, just ML for a line squad)
They are higher priority targets, but they can be annoying to drop from cover.
