Man, I've always been taking pointers and tips from this site, but I've always forgotten to make my own account.
Today is that miraculous day where it didn't slip my mind!
Anyways, hiya, new member here.
I think it's been almost a decade since I first found a real interest in miniature tabletop, ah yes, I think my initial reaction went something like this:
"Whoa, how do those plastic guys get painted so well? I should buy a box! No wait, why the hell aren't mine painted? You mean I have to paint?!? Oh gak, I cant even draw a circle properly!"
Good times.
Needless to say, two weeks later I was staring into the blank expression of what I assumed was a high elf warrior and proceeded to unleash the basic painting skills I had by giving my high elf battalion the paint job it deserved, but not the one it needed.....and 8 years later I still cant get facial expressions right.
After a few months of mini warfare at my old school, Lord of the Rings suddenly became passe, and then all of my friends proceeded to start playing Magic he Gathering.
I was somewhat disappointed in myself after dropping Warhammer and LoTR miniatures as a result, and for a few years I just switched to tabletop RPGs and MTG with the guys.
But then that fateful day arrived when I picked up a new copy of Dawn of War II, and was really god-awful. But then I found the DoW 1 and the expansions, and it kicked the ass of many a strategy game. Shortly afterwards I threw my wallet at the nearest hobby shop that wasn't overpriced. Fast forward a years later and I find myself possessing several armies that I've only recently started fielding more often.
Currently I've got a Dark Angels army from which I almost always slog out a Deathwing assault, a Tau space weeb army I will only ever use when we have the long table out, some Eldar which I've only just gotten through painting half of, and a small mob of Orks which I never enjoy fielding, because no vehicles.
Overall, it's been a great experience in miniatures so far, and I hope it continues for a lot longer!
