GNN Special Report
Nightmare On Rotuno 5

Several weeks ago, a Blood Angel recon detachment led by Master Librarian Coagula was exploring an abandoned
Imperial outpost. A routine mission to determine reactivation requirements. That routine mission became a nightmare.
There had been reports of abnormal bio-activity in a region some 100 leagues to the south, but there had been no further readings since.

As Squad Alpha approached a bastion, out of the clouds swooped two winged monsters.

Squad Alpha immediately recognized the notorious Magnum Opus accompanied by a huge Crone.

Magnum Opus has a long history of leading Tyranid swarms on vicious and devastating raids.

The Blood Angel troops brace as a Whirlwind fires on the intruders. A Speeder moves up to take aim.

Opus is annoyed by the flying box and unleashes hideous bio-slime, knocking the Speeder out.
In the distance, more insects pour from a wood toward Squad Bravo.

Squad Bravo sees the infestation and moves to cover behind a ruined Rhino

Sector command had been monitoring the airwaves and immediately dispatched
Brother Contuzion who, upon landing blew the Crone from the sky.

Opus was still distracted by the multitude of life forms milling about and turned on the box that spit fire barbs.

On the left, Termagants, Venomthropes and Tyranid Warriors scuttle forward

Having reached cover, Squad Bravo opens fire on the termagants, felling several.

The Termagants reach the wood. Squad Bravo’s fire is brutal at this close range

The fire barb spitter destroyed, Opus turned a murderous eye to Squad Alpha and senses the Crone is gone.

It suddenly takes flight toward Squad Bravo on the far left

Squad Bravo, accompanied by Librarian Coagula brace for the threat from their right.

At this point, Blood Angel Terminators teleport in between the Tyranid swarms.

On landing, they spy an unexploded Ork whammo-bomb. Knowing that if it goes off it would vaporize the area,
Squad Alpha is ordered to disarm the bomb.

Brother Contuzion senses strange aura vibrations in the air and turns to see a choir of
Zoanthropes drifting towards him. They back away as if guarding something in the building behind.

Possibly distracted by the movement all around, Opus stops suddenly and turns it’s gaze upon Squad Alpha again.

Just as quickly, Opus dives west over the Terminators, excreting poisonous foul viscera

Two Terminators fall to the noxious fumes. The survivors attention is drawn to a Biovore in the distance
casting its stomach contents toward Squad Bravo

Behind Coagula, vile Spore Mines come to rest.

They drift purposefully toward the Librarian

With a sudden pop, they explode against Coagula’s terminator armor which holds true, rejecting the insidious toxins.
Coagula casts a blessing upon Squad Bravo as the Tyranid Warriors close, inspiring their battle fury.

Their will is strong, but no match for the might of the Warriors.

Coagula is alone to met Imperial retribution on the foul Xenos

It comes down to one-on-one. Coagula stands his ground, parrying the Warriors blows

At this moment, a deafening screech rents the air. As Squad Alpha secures the whammo-bomb,
the remaining Tyranids break off to follow Opus out over the desert. The Blood Angels have also
suffered mightily and withdraw to regroup to fight another day.

Addendum: The Tryanids were fielded by Michelle, a serious opponent. Outcome was a draw.
Continuation of the Escalation League at our flGWs in Polaris, Columbus, Ohio.
Not too many animals were hurt in the production of this report…

Great little batrep. Nice editing. The models themselves look great. Personally I wouldn't worry so much about editing out the flying bases. Adding onamonopaeia (comic type words) can add to the effect. Really nice foray into the postproduction batrep!
